LA BELLE AND SEBASTIAN

Behind the scenes with Charlotte Ronson and Sebastian's Trilliant campaign.

At 13, Thomas Dunkin decided to finance some “new bits” for his skateboard by sweeping up hair at his cousin’s salon in London. Little did he know, working in the beauty industry would also finance the rest of his life, not to mention bring him to such disparate places as the top of a rainy, active volcano in Jakarta (for a Chanel campaign) to an airfield in Brooklyn (for an editorial shoot that was meant to be “soft and natural” and ended up involving neon hair extensions). After assisting hair superstars like Danilo, Guido, and Warhol favorite Kerry Warn, Dunkin came to work with Sebastian Professional hair care.

Dunkin tended to Ronson’s hair for our February shoot (stay tuned for the accompanying NYLONtv segment), and is the lead stylist for her Spring and Fall 2009 shows. “She’s really inspiring and great. I did her first show at the Bryant Park Tents—it was great to work with someone at the beginning of their career. She’s feminine but maintains an individual, bold taste. It was good fun, a creative meeting.”

Dunkin also had the pleasure of working with Charlotte Ronson as a model, since she’s face of the company’s Flaunt line. Trilliant, the star product from the new collection, has—as the name suggests—a trifecta of benefits: thermal protection, shine-enhancement, and light volumizing.

We’ve got exclusive behind-the-scenes shots from Ronson’s campaign shoot. Click here to take a look, and stay tuned next week, when we’ll give away Trilliant online.
