I PREDICT A ROBOT

I PREDICT A ROBOT

Tarina Tarantino and Kid Robot, the sequel.

For those more comfortable in Converse than Chanel, the search for comfortable and cool jewelry is often quite tough.  Charm bracelets boast pink enameled puppies; necklaces bling from ten feet away; even earrings seem more fit for Marie Antoinette than a day in your actual life.

Tarina Tarantino gets that, and - despite her pink hair and penchant for rhinestones - seems determined to do something about it.  Her second collection for Kid Robot debuts this week, and with it, some serious options for bauble-phobics.

There are silver chain necklaces adorned with small guns.  There are plastic hearts, rockets, and grenades.  There's even a set of beaded bangles that comes in ten colors - and with the waterproof ability to get scrubbed in the sink.

True, the jewels are a bit Punky (as in Brewster, not Sex Pistols), but if you're looking for a way to turn a t-shirt and jeans into something more standout, this is a frill-free way to go.

And anyway, who doesn't love a pendant with a giant smoking bunny?

The necklaces with the enormous charms are heinous, but the smaller necklaces and the chain bracelets have promise. I may actually check these out, even though they're not really in my neck of the woods, style-wise.

I think some of them are pretty, but the big chunky ones aren't that great. I would like just the bunny though, as a figurine, haha.

I think it's cute but too expensive, especially since the toys are plastic and get damaged easily. I made my own knockoffs of the KidRobot labbit earrings from the first collection and no one knows the difference.

why would anyone want to pay outrageous prices for kiddie charm necklaces? you can get this kind of thing for a far better price

some are cute. but the guns, razors and brass knuckles are a bit much. someone could go to hottopic they wanted that. i like the old colorful ones with the "zoomies"

Kid Robot totally just rips off tokidoki. Tokidoki has more stylish clothes, bags and jewelry than kid robot as well. Their stuff is ugly.

The whole collaboration is disappointing. Bad move on Kid Robots part pairing up with someone who designs the same thing over and over again. yawwwwwn,
