THE EMPEROR'S NEW NAILS

THE EMPEROR'S NEW NAILS

Invisible nail polish - so hot right now.

Ever since Chanel coated the fashion world in a shiny black lacquer, the quest for the next It Nail has been raged.

There were deep blue bottles and shiny gray polishes.  There were Mad Men shades of secretary red and Entourage hues of porn star pink.  There was even a Louboutin manicure, where the undersides of each nail got painted a trademark scarlet.

But now it seems some designers are over it.  Bare nails hit runways everywhere, from Rodarte to Jenni Kayne, and with them a defiant pull from the Next Big Nail.

But then came Dior.  They too declared "nude" to be the color of the season - then created their own It Polish to celebrate.  Called "Nude Chic," it's $19 and only available for a limited time.

The bad news is, you'll need to explain to your friends that you're wearing polish at all.  The good news is, if it chips, nobody will notice.

This is so ridiculous! If you are going to wear nude polish, you might as well not wear any at all or just use clear.

I've worn nude nail polish ever since I was 10. I decided to wear nail polish because I just wanted to but my mom forbade me to wear reds, metallics and dark colors... So I went for her nude nail polish. That's the only color I would wear until I turned 12... So I guess I might come back with nude nail polish then.. It should come as a shock to look at my nails once I switch to nude.

ehhhhh.no. im skeptical on the whole "it" thing..doesnt it have to catch on first before it can become an "it" item?..wtf

There's no point in having limited time $19 nail polish that doesn't even have a real colour. If it was nude with some shimmer that made your nails look totally healthy and nice, then it would make more sense, but this is seriously just pointless. I wouldn't even pay 19 for black nail polish.

oh yeah nude nail polish - great idea ! i also heard that they're coming out with an unscented perfume called H2O... SO CHIC. um lol 19$ for nude nails ? no thanks

I love nude polish!!...just not for $19. I think it looks clean and polished without being overdone.

This would be okay if it was like $3 or something. What a blatant ripoff! It's funny that people would pay that much for it.

they should release a soft orange colour, thats still pretty but not pointless. I think bold colours for nails are always the best. I don't like the ones that shimmer and stuff, just plain bold colours that can stand out.

i love nude nailpolish it makes your hands look very neat.. im wearing nude nailpolish by the way, and for does who said that they rather use no nailpolish at all they are stupid i dont find it pointless or anything like that i think is very classy and elegant and it protects your nails and makes them look shiny :) so wear it!

it depends on the shade... sometimes it can make it look like one does not have fingernails..

I LOVE it. Maybe not for 19 dollars...

i went to sephora to buy their last color, that great dark red, but when i went this ugly nude nail polish was there! i think you might as well not paint your nails if you want them nude

bev

...not impressed at all. It's been worn by most people I know for several of years. haha it's nice to know Dior finally caught on.

Great idea. Let's pay $20 for nail polish that makes it look like we're not wearing nail polish. (/sarcasm) It'd probably be worth buying if had a shine/shimmer to it, but still, not for that price. :/

Amanda

Yeah, not paying that much money. But hey, it's cool because I'm wearing nude polish right now!! Ha ha!

don't hate on it just because it's nude. $19 is a little much, but the idea is nice :) if i weren't completely broke i'd get some

I like nude polish, but I'd like to point out that it's only 'invisible' if you're Caucasian. It's kind of insensitive to market something as blending in with your skin tone if it only blends in for one out of many skin tones out there.

Lol! $19 for clear nail polish? I might as well not paint my nails or just get myself some clear nail polish for $3 at walgreens that works as well as Dior. How ridiculous..

wtf? nude nail varnish. i understand as there's always a beauty fad each season. i love fashion and all. but nude at $19. and its only nude and "invisible" if your caucasian. how pointless. stuff like this just annoys me.

gotta say, i love the zoolander referrence 8]

I think that nude nailpolish is pointless. I believe that it's all about the bright neon colors like lime green or yellow. Or just a classic red looks nice too. Something attention grabbing, not boring and plain like "nude nailpolish" agreed?

erika

nude nailpolish?? no thank you. i'll stick to my metallics =)

It's $19.. That's not a big deal. I love Dior, and beige is my favorite color, definitely buying 2 bottles.
