Another month, another big designer collaborates with Target. But this time it's a bit different. Rather than have Alexander McQueen just design a capsule collection for the bull's eye brand, Target asked the British enfant terrible to base an entire series of looks off of a creative inspiration. The result is a very rock’n’roll McQ Alexander McQueen for Target’s Designer Collaboration collection. McQueen’s found his muse in Leila Moss, the lead singer to the Duke Spirit, and her bandmates. So what does that mean for you when it hits stores in March? Skinny jeans with studs, ‘50s-inspired circle skirts, and leather vests, all in shades of black, gray, and white (with the occasional pop of color). The most surprising part of the collection is just how wearable it all is - even bondage-inspired swimsuits are appropriate for a dip at the town pool.
“I wanted my Target collection to feature key aspects of the McQ Alexander McQueen aesthetic, classic craftsmanship with a rebellious, nostalgic flare,” McQueen told NYLON. “The collection is comprised of effortless, chic menswear inspired tailored pieces that women will feel confident wearing.”
Why Moss as his muse? For McQueen, the pick was quite simple: “I am always inspired by youth subcultures. I’m also inspired by music, rebellion, style revolution, and people with the passion to make a lasting difference.”
