Necklaces that are both naughty and nice.
In Avril Lavigne’s signature song, “Sk8er Boi”, a prissy ballerina turns down a skater because girls like her aren’t supposed to date boys like him. The song may be catchy (yes, we admit it), but it’s also entirely misguided; there’s nothing wrong with jamming to Richard Hell and the Voidoids while decked out in ruffles.
It’s something that Muqliza Imroni has taken to heart. The Indonesian designer behind the jewelry company Sou Brette created a series of dark-but-delicate necklaces featuring hand-molded solid resin in black, silver, and seashell colors. The collection (not so subtly called “Fiction Romance”, after the Buzzcock’s ‘70s punk song) was inspired by everything from dancers to ‘90s silks to the aforementioned British rockers. The strongest pieces in the collection incorporate various materials, like leather ribbon and metal chain, and they’re all named after punk legends (Devoto, Lars, Armstrong…).
Not only will Sou Brette ship to the US, but you'll also have enough money leftover to pick up a few new vinyl records—all the pieces are $85 and under. Now that’s punk.
