PAINTED LADIES

PAINTED LADIES

Art for your eyes, lips, and face.

Problem: You have big dreams of becoming an artist, but couldn’t sketch, sculpt, or paint well if your life depended on it.

Solution: Try getting creative with something a little more personal—namely, your face.

For spring, Smashbox is releasing a new collection called Muse, a series of paint splattered palettes, eye pencils, mascaras, and primers. While you prep your canvas—err, face—squeeze lip gloss from what looks like a paint tube and wield an eye shadow brush like you’re Monet (or, if you’re particularly wild, Pollock).

Smashbox is best known for developing products with the help of professional makeup artists, so no surprise that they would come up with such a creative-minded set. After all, there’s a reason why makeup artists are called “artists”.

I like the idea, I thought that it was more like splatter painting on your whole face but, the colors seem like ones that would look good on anybody and enhance their natural beauty.

Smashbox is taking notes, a lot of spring collections fresh off the runway are looking such way. Two terms vogue used to describe the major statements of latest collections were atherial and pop art. Which you can tell is very relevant to what smashbox is doing with this new line.

GOOOOOOOD IDEA <3

A creative marketing idea, however I don't really see it carried over into the cosmetic itself. Pop art is characterized by bright colors and bold shapes, which isn't really present in the actual makeup, as far as I can see, just the packaging. Personally, I'd love to see some colored mascaras out there. I'm a big fan of Dior's blue. :)

@ Celine: Where does it say pop art, hmm?

nothing new, looks like children's make up you buy in the 99 cent store. also..don't almost all lip glosses come in those tubes?
