GOLD RUSH

GOLD RUSH

Diamonds may be a girl's best friend, but you can't beat 24-karats for your lips.

If you’ve seen the gold infomercial that's been playing nonstop on TV recently (“Ship us your unwanted jewelry!”), then you know that gold doesn’t come cheap. Except if it’s for your face.

Up until now, getting a golden beauty infusion would cost you (remember YSL’s $30 lip gloss?). But with Avon’s Ultra Color Rich 24K, the first lipstick with real 24-karat flakes of gold, you can get your fix for $5. Our favorite shades include “Golden Nectar”, a warm peach, and “Golden Wine”, which is a glitzy version of your favorite black lipstick.

For the rest of your face, there’s Jane Iredale’s 24-karat Gold Dust powder. And to get real goldfingers, try Essie’s limited-edition “Love, Beverly Hills xx”. Yes, those are actual flakes of gold floating in the red polish. For now, you can only pick it up in California, but come January it will be available online.

See, there’s nothing wrong with being a gold digger.

I like the gold lipgloss personally. I think it's too dramatic on this model though. In proportion it works. I'd say.

gold anything goes ;) i like the eyeshadow a bit more than the lipstick however.

i don't like the way it looks on the model. but the eyeshadow does look good. i think it would look better on slightly bronzed or fair skin??

ehhhh to tell you the truth I think gold lipstick is a little too drag queen. The eyeshadow though I like.

ASHLEY

Gold lipstick is a mistake. I love gold when it comes to eyeshadow or jewelry, but for a lipstick it's just not practical or flattering. The gold inspired shades are cute though!

I agree with Ashley. Metallics should never be worn on lips! I don't even like gold jewelry though, so of course I'm biased.

Well, it's definitely not for the grocery store, but I'm sure with the right ensemble it would make an incredibly bold statement. It is a bit much on the model, though. Should be a little more subtle.

GOLD LIPSTICK IS UGLY AND TRASHY.

Does anyone notice that in the picture she is missing an eyebrow?

I think it is an ugly lip color. Gold eyeshadow-great! otherwise, i don't think it should be used. Not to mention, it looks bad on that model. and the makeup artist didnt do well applying it. it looks like my 5 year old neice did it

I really don't like it. It looks pretty on that model, but she's a model so that's no surprise. I'm trying to imagine it on me (regular person) and it just doesn't work.

I would say, stick to using it as an eye highlighter, or perhaps to put a gold sheen accent on lips, but not a full covering like on this model. Great to have on hand though! It's not every day that you see gold lipstick!

i think it would look great if you tone down a little bit the rest of the make up,, like maybe not so strong on the eye and the lips just a little bit of gold. on the picture it just doesn't look flattering at all.

Everyone has a right to experiment, no? But before you do let me say this: gold lipstick just looks like a poorly colored, over-glitzed nude. Over done sparkles are tacky anyways, and yellow next to your teeth... well you get the drift. Now golden eyes- that I can buy into.

for santogold or mia or some other neo-day-glo person but not for regular wear. you end up looking like kelis- trasy!

I really hate the bold gold look, but when the gold is sheer its very nice, i think it is great for summer, with a nice tan. I have to say i absolutely love my MAC Slimshine in Voile, it is gold but very sheer and it moisturizes, plus add it on top of any color, like right now it would go great on top of a red to sort of neutralize it so you can have that egg nogg without having to reapply every five minutes at the dinner table.

i absolutely LOVE gold lipstick. im a bit of a drag queen when it comes to makeup, so the glitzier, the better!
