Earlier this week there was a midday art project in the NYLON office, with editors covering a plain iPhone case with glitter nail polish. I liked the idea of it, but the thought of permanently covering something made me a bit twitchy.
Clearly, I’m not alone: DiNG creates custom-fit, device-specific decals that you can actually peel off. Although the company has a slew of designs promoting your favorite bands (like Bloc Party, The Shins, and Gym Class Heroes), their just-launched line of art by well-known tattoo artists is by far the coolest.
The site, which has decals for everything from your laptop to your Wii console to your guitar, features nearly 30 different tattoo designs to choose from. There are a few skull prints, but also some retro styles; our favorites include pieces by Myles Karr, Dawn Cooke, and Brynn Palmer. The website includes biographical info as well as contact info for each artist, so you can call them directly if you like their work enough to get it permanently inked on your body. And best of all, when you’re sick of looking at a chirping bird you can just peel the graphic off of your cell phone and order a new one.
