Shepard Fairey, fine artist? Ask the kids in Boston.

You know Shepard Fairey is a political activist, a graphic designer, a social movement, and a tagger. But is he also museum quality?

Boston's Institute of Contemporary Art seems to think so. They just announced a retrospective of Shepard Fairey's work set for February 2009 - the first time a major museum has ever given him a solo show.

Besides Shepard's famous Obama posters, you'll also see the legendary Obey Giant series, the "Make Art, Not War" pinup girls, and various graffiti sites brought back to life.

Thanks for featuring this article! I love Shepard Fairey's work because it is not only visually stunning- it also causes people to think about important ethical and political issues. Wish I lived near Boston so I could see this in person in February. It'd be totally worth it!

Gawd I've instantly taken a likeing to this man. Shepard get's his point across an his artwork is visually stunning. I know I've seen his artwork somewhere... Who says art can't send a message and get people to notice! Hah he has me loving Boston even more. Peace!
