THE SKULLS

THE SKULLS

Marc and McQueen rock the trend that won't die. But do you?

Just when you thought it was safe to leave skulls to Damien Hirst and Halloween decorations, the fashion world strikes again:

This week, Marc Jacobs introduced his latest necklace, a watch in the shape of a giant bug-eyed skull.  The undead accessory goes for $200 at all Marc by Marc Jacobs stores, and looks a little like Cheap Monday's iconic logo.

Also this week, Alexander McQueen's pink skull scarf sold out completely at Net-a-Porter - something we would have expected during its 2005 debut, but not three years later.

Are all the Twilight and True Blood obsessions getting into people's wardrobes?  And are you embracing the zombie jamboree?  Let us know in the comments below - meanwhile, we'll go find Tim Burton for comment...

Skulls will always still be cool. As long as pirates, punk rock, && horror movies are still around, skulls will be, too. && those three things are too good to fade away.

i'm picky about it. i like skulls, but not when they're alone. i wouldn't buy a shirt with one big skull on it, but i'd buy a shirt with a skull pattern.

i find huge skulls n prints rather overdone & outdated its too much you can go to any store & buy a diffused version of a designer skull garment... lets be more subtle ppl... the necklace is cute because it is SUBTLE!

People still buy it so I still design around it. Momento mori anyone? If you can still do a tried and true motif and keep fresh than more power to you. Keeping it fresh keeps it a classic.

I'd say they would still be "cool" to society if they weren't so overused in the past few years. But skulls still look AWESOME when they're on a Jolly Roger.

I LOVE TWILIGHT AND TIM BURTON! and about the skull thing. Honestly it depends how you wear it. There's ways to do it that still is fashionable, but i dont like huge skulls. Its better when its small printed and more simple. :)and marc jacobs is genius<3 ^-^
