FLOWER BOMB

FLOWER BOMB

Shu Uemura thinks that winter should be a bit brighter. We'd have to agree.

Fact: Seasonal Affective Disorder (you know, feeling gloomy when the days get shorter and colder) is real.

Fact: Shu Uemura’s new holiday collection will perk you up.

Scientific researchers we’re not, but we’ll bet that a morning spent putting on makeup from the Japanese beauty behemoth will put you in a significantly better mood.

The collection, a collaboration with Japanese photographer and filmmaker Mika Ninagawa, focuses on flowers. Big blossoming flowers. There’s an eye shadow palette inspired by the adorning marguerite blossoms, a red rose festooned brush kit, and peony covered pink lipstick.

It’s not as girly as you think (last time we checked, purple-and-black false eyelashes were pretty hardcore), but there’s no denying it: An explosion of flowers isn’t exactly a lead-up to the blues.

The collection is limited edition, so come January they’ll be gone forever—much like the flowers you planted last spring.
