FIRST LOOK: THAKOON FOR TARGET

FIRST LOOK: THAKOON FOR TARGET

Christmas in November? Well, we can dream. Cheap designer clothes, halleluja!

They won't be out for another month, but that doesn't mean you can't dream about it now:

Thakoon's clothes for Target's Go! International series have finally surfaced, and they're pretty gorgeous.

The line favored by Michelle Williams and Michelle Obama will retail for $20 - about $70, and goes on sale this Christmas.  It's got a resort vibe instead of a midwinter look, which means you have two options:

1.  Wear it somewhere warm and sunny (Florida kids, you have all the luck).

2.  Buy it and save it for April or May.

Either way, you'll be in style for a very long time to come.

I think the prints are awful and the long sleeve shirt with the shirt on top of it is horrible, I must say.

I really like some of the peices alone. However, im not a huge fan of the layering revolution i think hobo chic has gone to far there is a fine line between innovative and tacky.

i adore the first boho dress, it's perfect for winter! just throw on some cute tights and youre all set! the jacket is really feminine, i like it. also the dress with the cardigan over it with the yellow belt looks so chic. go target for allowing us normal folk get designer duds for less!

I can't wait for Thakoon to come to Target. His designs look fresh and I will wear them during the warmer days of Spring. Love the green and navy dress too!

3rd option: Fly in the face of convention and wear it now (ok, December), layer it. I love all the florals! Also, that last piece is totally similar to (read: looks the same as) some of their spring looks that I adored. I'm excited!

I like the swimsuit in the second picture and the outfit with the yellow belt (#7-with the dress). ive seen the dress outfit before but its still cute! and the best thing-ITS CHEAP(ish depending on what u get)

Nana

Like the last dress. But thats about it. Everything else is horrid. The styling is boring and looks home-made. Just because the cost is cheap, doesn't mean it has to look that way. Not that impressive for the debut of a new line

i think they are all incredibly adorable. i especially love the 2nd picture with the bathing suit and the open sweater shirt. GO FLORALS!

I love the prints but mostly I think thakoon, the designer, is adorable haha.

Bailey

11/16/2008

I like a couple of the pieces, and the floral prints are pretty fashion-forward. However, I think a resort-ish collection is irrelevant for a Target shopper.

kat

11/19/2008

i absolutely love everything. this is my favorite target collection so far. def. going to ask for alot of the pieces for christmas or just buy them!!

kirsten

the second to last look is my favorite!

BrandonB

Its typical thakoon. He's known much more for his prints than for his cuts. To me its everything you would expect from him-standout, argueably attractive patterns, in a somewhat boring cut. Some of the pieces are good, but some look too "grandma from 1992". Theres a fine line between urban cool and hellish nightmare. Thakoon's Target line, just like his regular one, push those boundries.

YUKKU

fab! i love thakoon! ^^

Love the collection, however the point of designing for target is to create a line that's affordable for women who only buy on the highstreet. Although the line is very affordable, the setting in which women would wear these clothes during this time of the year is not. Many designers create cruise or vacation-like collections around this time of the year for those women who take luxurious vacations in the tropics all throughout the winter. It's great that Thakoon is giving something to the average woman that is the same as what's current on the runways, but I just don't know how functional it is. Of course, I'll still buy a few pieces because I do like the line, but I'll have to wait to wear it.

i think it looks very "target", i shop their clearance section religiously and it just seems predictable, all of the "go" lines are flower prints or animal prints ....can we get a little more originality please?

These are total knock-offs of Thakoon's Spring 07 runway. Same prints, same shapes. Makes you wonder how he has the audacity to charge $2000 for a dress is now selling at Target for $30.

Alisha

I'm not terribly impressed. Like ^she said, it's basically Thakoon's spring '07 line all over again. I DID buy the dress in the third picture. It's essentially a big floral bag but if you're adroit when it comes to fashion you can pull it off. I just altered the hem line on mine so it's shorter.

Nerissa

i think these are pretty good pieces! i love the prints and the bikinis. i want to go to target right now and buy those things! im glad more designers are putting their clothes at affordable prices. they make me feel like a millionaire.
