PUNK'S NOT DEAD
But it's playing on your TV set this week.
-
If you’ve ever read Please Kill Me, then you know that the ‘70s punk scene didn’t exactly end well (spoiler alert: almost everyone ends up dead, broke, or totally disenchanted).
But while Joey Ramone may be in punk rock heaven and Sid Vicious may be in punk rock hell, punk itself is definitely not dead.
If you need proof, watch the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson this week.
Yes, you may need to look up exactly which channel it’s on and at what time (CBS and 12:30 a.m.—we had to look it up too), but it will be worth it; the rocker-turned-late night TV personality is hosting three of the biggest ‘70s punk bands during a week-long showcase.
Exene Cervenka and her band X perform on Tuesday, followed by New York Dolls on Wednesday and, just in time for Halloween, The Damned on Friday.
Although your TV set may not be a perfect stand-in for CBGB or Mabuhay Gardens, turning to volume up and starting a mosh pit in your living room is actually pretty punk. David Letterman, take note.
