I think deciding to put Hilton on your cover is great way to get your name out there to all the other fashion conscious persons to pick up your mag. It's almost as good as McCain's surprise pick of Palin, only you've really got no enemies to battle against. So, I am (as are others) not so sure why Hilton. As far as fashion is concerned, Hilton is no hero. She's known for her trademark and image rather than her contributions or achievements in entertainment (unless you want to count sex videos and terrible television as "contributions"). She's got money and that's all one needs in today's society to become famous - "buy your way into celebrity status." It's sick. Go back to featuring independents and those with real talent.

Hi Nylon, I should probably stop buying your magazine, because I hate it. But It's hard to resist the pretty pictures of things I like. My two hugest gripes were exemplified in your last issue, the one with Zooey Deschanel. First of all, the letters. Are you guys fucking kidding me? They're all from girls in the midwest (or LA or NYC) who think you guys are just the coolest and tell you so. That's nice to um, put up in your office and masturbate to or something, but not interesting for readers. Seriously, no shame. On to the second: your choices of "it girls". Some of them were pretty cool, the DJs and musicians and I don't know, people who've actually done shit. The models, wanna-be models, daughters of famous people and, what the fuck, CODY Kennedy? Not interesting, not deserving, vapid, and totally irrelevant. Nylon would be more interesting if it challenged the status quo and the IQ of its readers a bit more. Seriously, do people actually care about the Kennedy girls? Because one of them knows how to put an outfit together and likes to party? So does every third girl in San Francisco. Her sister is beyond irrelevant and I'm struggling to grasp why she merits even a paragraph. You should have put an intelligent woman to represent those of us who proudly vote. I don't think any of these ladies (or gentlemen?) are jealous. I just think they probably have some amount of intelligence. I was shocked and annoyed as well when I went to my mail box and saw her on the cover. However, I figured there was probably a good reason for Nylon to do such a thing, so I read the article. The entire time it's trying to prove that there is more to Paris Hilton than being rich and acting moronic, but like I said, it was trying. I was not convinced. Even if she is a decent person out of the public, she still puts on a fake persona for her own selfish advantage. At least that's what the article seems to be saying. That is not respectable at all.
