There's a new Hello Kitty print out there, and it's pretty deadly.
The cartoon cat, who was recently named a Japanese tourist ambassador, just released a new collection of accessories and toys, and it features Ms. Kitty herself paired with skulls, crossbones, and lots of black.
We know that Hello Kitty's a trendsetter, since after all, she was wearing bows in her hair 20 years before Blair Waldorf. But does this mean her girly acolytes are mewing to the dark side?

yeah, they have had goth hk stuff forever at hot topic (sadly, i used to wear it in my younger days, i must admit). HOWEVER i think this is way cuter because it's a subtle, monochrome print on little accessories. i'd NEVER ever wear this on a t-shirt, but as a coin purse or even underwear i think it's adorable.

actually, i digress - i think it's quite adorable. i think it's not typical for a hello kitty print. i do think the hot topic masses will gobble it up, but since i am not one of the hot topic masses, it doesn't affect me. i just like it. i'd buy it if i really needed another coin purse.

I think Hello Kitty appeals to all people in one way or another. I think this coin purse is really awesome..now if they made a clutch w/ a small hello kitty skull logo, that would be cute!. It's very rock n' roll and I don't think you have to be goth, emo or in the indie scene to appreciate it

This isn't new for HK. She's had her brush with Goth before, and I have the HK photo album to prove it. :P She's also gone punk, which, in my opinion was the best of her styles.
I like this print, I'll totally buy it if it gets on the clearance racks, since.. I'm a poor little college kid. XD

This kind of thing isn't new - I've seen punk versions of HK (wearing a tattered plaid skirt and safety pins) and goth versions with black eyeliner, black skirt and a skull on the bow on her ear on shirts and things before. I think it's cute - and I like this one too. Subtly subversive - if HK can be subversive at all.
