We can’t afford Rodarte’s ethereal clothing.
We’re too afraid to try their Nicholas Kirkwood-designed shoes.
But if there’s one thing from the Mulleavy sisters’ Tuesday show that we can make our own, it’s the nails.
Falling somewhere between nude and taupe, the sandy color that decorated the fingers of Jourdan and Sasha P. is the perfect neutral: soft enough to wear with ballerina-inspired tutus but strong enough to pair with ripped jeans and studded bracelets.
The inspiration, according the backstage nail artist Deborah Lippmann, was the desert. But you don’t need to trek through the Sahara to get the look; instead, try Lippmann’s “Fashion” (the exact color she used for the show). Or, if you’re saving up for one of Rodarte’s webbed sweaters, try “Mambo” from Essie, “Amazing in Amber” from Wet N Wild, or “Tickle My France-y” from Opi.
Unlike a pair of their mile-high platforms, the nail color won’t lead to any Abbey Lee-esque falls.
