SHIRTS ARE NOT PANTS - RIGHT?!

SHIRTS ARE NOT PANTS - RIGHT?!

A new runway trend might mean you don't need tights at all...

Last season, we explored the challenging world of tights, not pants.

This season, it's getting even barer, at least according to the runways.

Spotted at Isaac Mizrahi, Sari Gueron, House of Cassette, and Proenza Schouler (so far) were giant shirts, worn as dresses but short enough for a starlet scandal.

We kind of loved them, but we've got to ask:

Are shirts the new tights?  Are pants the new dinosaurs?  And will you try to rock this look when it's warmer?

ok now... I'm all for shirt-dresses, but there's definitely a fine line between ok-short and skank-short.

Yep. Shirts = as good as pants in my book. I love men's x-large shirts cut down to dress size for end of summer / fall.

I believe much will come from this, but it wont last long. new designs will flourish from this idea, but it will only be a 10 second trend. this will only give dress designers the initiative to make more casual dresses.

Depending on the length of the shirt and what you wear it with. I think a big tshirt or dress shirt with a edgy jacket and cute boots make for a killer outfit.

The second one looks like she's in a smock, getting ready to get a haircut. I still like it though, hahaha! I would.

I saw a girl on Capitol Hill wearing a white T-Shirt and black heels. You could see her ass cheeks. NOT hot.

I like wearing my shirts long because I hate pants in the summer, and I live in Las Vegas..so its great not to wear pants! and especially if you can pair it down good.

Not feeling the shirts/pants vibe really. What if you need to pee? You have to get practically naked!

I think it shows a serious lack of creativity. The only time I can think of someone successfully pulling that off is Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. But she doesn't leave her apartment like that! agh. Just what we all needed, more reasons for girls to dress skanky.

DEFINITELY! i love this look and i don't think i want to wait until it's warmer. i think that i will probably wear the long shirt with some tights like at the show for house of cassette during the winter! i love this new trend and i don't think it's one bit skanky.

a t-shirt is like my uniform i get men's shirts on sale from urban or just shirts at thrift stores and wear them with sandals or boots. it's easy, comfortable, and really convenient if you don't have a lot of money. when it's hot it's like throwing on a small dress and when it's cold, tights and a scarf are FABULOUS.

YES! This is sooo me. Shirts are the new pants, it's just a casual form of a dress, and I <3 it!

why can't pants be pants and shirts be shirts? it's all individual: what's a shirt on one person could possibly be a dress on another. i get asked the question, "is this a shirt or a dress?" EVERYDAY at work. and it's a valid one. but when you say a shirt as pants? i imagine a shirt made into pants. pants fit around your legs, right?

I like it, and I think I've actually worn this trend before. I did get some weird looks, but I usually do when I leave the house! what can I say, I don't like looking like everyone else!

I will probaby end up wearing tights/leggings with em. i don't wana have to worry about sitting down in class! and pants will always be pants, they will never go out of style!!

Wearing just an oversized looking shirt might not look so hot unless I was going to bed, but pairing it with a skinny belt, a cropped jacket or leggings like look number 2 just might start a cool trend.

I'm just wondering if everyone who posted looked at the pics. You guys are right, the oversized tee with leggings/tights has been going on for awhile now, but these look more like dresses, and are deatailed more to look like a dress and fit the feminine shape. Its basically cut like different styles of dresses, yet has the fabric and look of a t-shirt. Different than just buying a large or XL dude's tee from somewhere and putting it on as a whole outfit.
