GARDEN VARIETY

With our seasonal wardrobe transformations under way, designers are doing the same for their scents.

With our seasonal wardrobe transformations well under way, designers are doing the same for their scents—But Marc, Dior, and Issey have imbued their eau de summers with so many flowers not only within the fragrances themselves, but adorning the bottles as well, one would think that they still had spring fever.

ISSEY MIYAKE L’EAU D’ISSEY SUMMER
The smell of fresh cut grass is one you’d expect to be refreshing in your bathroom, but on the back of your neck, not so much. In Issey Miyake’s olfactory incarnation, however, which comes painted with tangled vines—has bottled the a crisp, sun-kissed scent of garden greenery. With subtle notes of wild flowers like lily of the valley, freesia, and Parma violet, L’Eau d’Issey Summer has captured the spirit of the season and saved you from grass stains.

DIOR ADDICT 2 SUMMER PEONIES
Sitting side by side Dior’s decadent Black Out Mascara and Sun Couture Bronzer, Dior’s Dior Addict 2 Summer Peonies fragrance may look a bit wispy, but don’t be fooled. This limited-edition scent may have pink flowers scribbled on its façade, but inside, it’s a fetching amalgamation of citrus and creamy notes such as bergamot, white violet, and white musk… Addicting, to say the least.

MARC JACOBS FLOATING GARDENIAS
Gardenias may not be the first scent one would pick to embody Marc Jacobs’s signature grunge aesthetic, but they’ve been the top note of his namesake fragrance for years, albeit a seriously subdued version of the potent flower. This month, Jacob releases a limited-edition fragrance entitled Floating Gardenias. While the bottle is dressed with gardenias floating in the water and the fragrance itself is a lush mix of gardenia, ginger, and cedar wood, it is in fact, the same classic scent we’ve worn all along. You’d never have known.
$65 for 1.7 oz.
