FIRST LOOK: JONATHAN SAUNDERS FOR TARGET

FIRST LOOK: JONATHAN SAUNDERS FOR TARGET

Cheap clothes? Check. Great design? Check. Maybe we should write a thank you note.

Just in time to face the September runways, it's a new superhero of cheap and chic:

Meet Jonathan Saunders, the British wunderkind who's hit American shores to partner with Target next month.

The designer famous for his innovative prints and slim, hugging cuts retails for thousands in Europe and America, but thanks to his recent partnership with Tarjay, getting his looks is suddenly a much more manageable ordeal.

Our favorites include the piped blazer, the explosion of prints on a buttoned dress and blouse, and some color block tunics that revive the Mondrian obsession lived last season by Diane Von Furstenberg and inspired by old-school YSL.

The clothes hit Target stores and online in October.  But that doesn't mean you can't start fantasizing now.

Some of the individual pieces are rather clever. I don't much care for the skirt in the second view.

One star for the purple dress. Why do so many recent designers for Target seem to think that American girls want to look well, ugly??? Those clothes aren't even workable. How dissapointing.

i have really loved several of the target go! collections... but this one is absolutely drab.

I like the simpler pieces. "Ugly" is relative. It's up to the wearer to style the outfit well!

i need to see better quality pictures before i judge completely but... i had WAY high hopes for this and it's not living up to those expectations at all. i'd wear the first and the second looks but other than that? nothing. and those dresses are all dreadful and unflattering. oh, j.s., i expected so much more! :(

oh boo. throw the phrase "british wunderkind" and Diane Von Furstenberg's name into a description and completely get my hopes up. what a sad little let down for my target lovin' heart.

Its more of a repetitive look for Target, quite honestly. Nothing really stand out except for the skirt in panel 6 and the jacket in panel 8. And, of course, the boots :].

I like the first and last jacket, and might actually get them, but the rest are pretty eh. and just cause something is trendy does not make it a good idea. shoulder pads were trendy at one point.

I like it, some girls here are obviously oblivious to Europe for hating these clothes.

just saw the collection at target today and i recognize maybe 4 pieces from the pics above. almost everything i saw at target today is awesome - these pics are very done and very pro - they're meant to be artsy and doesn't show the true article of clothing. example: the top third dress with the yellow belt is actually a dress worn over a hoodie sweater. the sweater is black with red piping and KICKS ASS. the dress with the belt is ok but no normal, not-catwalk human being would wear those two pieces together as shown. check out the cloths in person - see them, feel them, try them on - before making up your mind.
