EXCESS BAGGAGE

EXCESS BAGGAGE

Partying until 6 a.m. is no longer synonymous with morning-after raccoon eyes.

Blame it on a tendency to watch episodes of Arrested Development late into the night and a genetic predisposition towards dark under-eye circles (thanks, dad!), but I’ve had more than my fair share of mornings when I can literally feel the bags under my eyes.

So I was a bit skeptical when I first heard about the Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Eye Mask from Bliss. Creams, lotions, and masks have been powerless against my tired eyes and, frankly, these pads looked like a total gimmick. And then I put them on.

Unlike many beauty products that look nifty but can’t boast results, the Eye Mask was like a Red Bull in facial form. After you squeeze the packaging’s fluid chamber and let the pads soak up the vitamin C-rich concoction, you just place them below your eyes and go about your business for 15 minutes. I ate breakfast, brushed my teeth, and got ready to go all while my face recharged. Best of all were the results: As I peeled off the pads, I actually felt more awake and looked less tired.

My one caveat is that the masks don’t come cheap; at $54 for a pack of four, I can’t justify putting them on every morning. But it is the perfect antidote to those extreme mornings, when you’re recovering from an all-night party and need to give a presentation at work. Because while there are some types of bags that are covetable, these are just unnecessary.
