WE LOVE LEGOS

WE LOVE LEGOS

The addictive toys become fashion accessories, and open their own funhouse.

It’s a well-known fact that once Marc Jacobs gives something his blessing, it’s officially the coolest and will trickle down to the masses eventually. So it comes as no surprise that his Lego-centric accessories have found some resonance in the real world.

Enter Legoland Discovery Center in Chicago, America’s first indoor Legoland. It’s also the first East Coast theme park venture for the Scandinavian toy scions…and wonderful news for those who never want to grow up.

The 30,000 square-foot space features a dragon coaster (made of Legos), a 3-D cinema (made of Legos), and loads of giant sculptures and building replicas (made of… Legos.)

Now that you can get your Legoland fix without going all the way to California, or Germany, or Japan, the only problems that remain are…

Is it overkill to don your MJ lego belt buckle at Legoland?

And how will you be able to focus on Lollapalooza this weekend knowing that tons of Lego fun is going on minutes away?!

That would be very cool. I'm sure legos are wearable! It would be cool, but then again,if legos are wearable why wouldn't we wear Playstasion on our back or smth like that? And in case this stuff is in fashion nobody will laugh at you if you wear it.

I Dont think its wearable It is completely hideous

Harriet

This is interesting, but due to me being pedantic is flawed. Surely Legos is not the plural of Lego? A similar misconception of the whole die/dice scenario.

oh yes please, love it

Kaytiee.

07/31/2008

Pssht, you can make anything out of leggos, why not accesories? i definately for it.

Lindsay

07/31/2008

I'm not sure about this one. I knew this guy in highschool and he had a lego shaped backpack made of nylon (lol) and it was pretty cool. Although I'm not sure that I would wanna wear an accesory made of actual legos...

No. I guess it's how you wear it, but you can still be original WHILE looking good too.

I've seen Legos as simple jewelry before! It's cute and simple which I'm a huge fan of. I don't think the Lego hairpiece would be the best idea but as simple bracelets, charms, or anything else it'll be a great colorful piece!

Ally

um,no

Heddy

07/31/2008

I think it's clever of marc to think of it, and I would certainly have the confidence to wear maybe a belt (not a headband) of it, but I would not dish out that much money for a short-lived trend.

Of course legos are hott!! Marc Jacobs is a bit late, I've had a set of lego bracelets for about 3 years and every time i wear it I get compliments. there was also this one time where a vendor at the mall wanted to buy them off of me, but i wasn't telling her where i got them!!

Anything is wearable if you can pull it off

Alexandra

Uh, I don't think so. This isn't a cute or simple accessory.. it is one of those ideas which people look at ridiculous things and say "OH, now that is ART! That is ground-breaking!" That's in all, just a ridiculous idea. Don't get me wrong, Marc Jacobs is a fantastic designer, but legos? I mean, seriously. "Let's pay tons of money for something we would have made fun of people for wearing back in high school!"

you people would wear anything with a familiar name on it, wouldn't you?

Erbert

07/31/2008

Hillary

07/31/2008

I can make my own lego belt. Marc Jacobs doesn't have "nuffin" on me.

sarah

07/31/2008

i've always loved lego and i'm so excited that they opened a legoland closer to me!

paola

07/31/2008

I love the idea ! and it came as no surprise that Marc jacobs was be the genie this. But I feel like is something I could do by myself so I wouldn't really buy it.

Laura

I fully just made a Lego belt. Thanks for the inspiration, Marc Jacobs.

08/01/2008

Marc Jacobs actually got those lego belts and pins from two young designers based in Staten Island. They are currently involved in Fred Flare's next biggest thing contest. They are cool though. I saw someone with it on the train and it looked nice on him.

always cute on the end of a pinky ;)

Morgan

08/01/2008

I'm not going to fall to my knees for any designer. Marc Jacobs is human and is sometimes victim to his own bad taste. These lego accessories are a good example. If you saw these at walmart you'd say hell no.

Danae

08/01/2008

aw, so cute! :) definitely creative, i'd try it. <3

Andrea

08/03/2008

Of course! I've been wearing a red one around my necklace for the longest time now =)

style network's "how do i look" featured an older preschool teacher with an identical headband she made herself. she should be a fashion designer. haha mad props to her.

it's basically fun and a creative exercse having to make it yourself, i often wear lego accessories, i did so a year ago before mj shown them which is slighty annoying, but why not, it's all in fun, here's some of my creations: http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=71908005&albumID=448431&imageID=11663254 http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=71908005&albumID=448431&imageID=21351458

it's an absolutely amazing, intelligent piece of art. i would wear legos everyday.

Lego's as accessories? Brilliant! and for the people who say, NO!, its just a toy or were not in the 90's anymore. Face it, the 2000's are nothing but a mix of fashion's past; and toys are in fashion everyday, look at necklaces and wanna-be vintage Tees. Oh, and anyone can pull off any look they want to.

Wearing Lego is totally awesome. So is Legoland... but the one in Denmark is clearly the best legoland in existence. I'm going to go make myself a lego necklace right now!
