The Lauren Conrad conversations, part two. This time: Accessories!
Last month, Lauren Conrad made a NYLON office pit stop to discuss her new clothing line.
This month, we met her at the London Hotel to see her new accessories range.
Made in collaboration with mark (you know, the makeup company), the new stuff includes bejeweled headbands a la Blair Waldorf, plus pendants, bangles, and a special necklace for charity. Here's what she said:
About working with marc and Avon:
"It's this amazing company run by women... even my little sister, Brianna, sells the makeup to her friends... but she almost won the top salesgirl prize, and the prize was a dinner with me! She was so pissed when she found out. She was like, Lauren, you are so lame."
About her LA fashion show:
"I cried as soon as I got backstage."
About her accessories issues:
"My big problem is gloves. I bought all these swing coats for when I travel, and they're great but your arms get really cold! So I designed long gloves to take care of that."
About being a bad driver:
"I can't talk on a Blackberry and drive at the same time. That was my last accident... I was doing my Blackberry and I hit someone. Oops."
About hats:
"I love berets, so I designed some for mark. I wanted to pack them for Paris, but it was too cliche. Like, the American girl in Paris with her hats."

She is an amazing girl with a true passion for fashion. Sure, she's not Tom Ford but hey doesn't it take all types of people to fill up the world? Her new collection sounds like it's going to be a fun, flirty hit! It shouldn't take Karl Lagerfeld or some fashion-obsessed hipster to be featured in NYLON. Lauren is on the way to becoming more and more successful and I hope she is featured!

I love Lauren, and so what if she did become famous from a tv show, how is that different then a million other people who become famous from a commercial or movie?
She wanted to do something and shes doing it, you shouldnt hate on her for that. And please dont feed me bull* because if the same opportunities came to you, then you would take them no questions. Nylon is supposed to be about originality, girls who actually have a sense in fashion and uniqueness. If you feature Lauren Conrad, Nylon will loose the whole look of it. Do you want Nylon to becom a Teen Vogue? For average non-original, just shopping at Hollister/A&E and following only what guys think is "hot"?
I dont! I'll stop reading Nylon if she is featured. Plus, her jewelry looks like average Claire's stuff, come on wheres the fashion in that?

look, i love nylon and all, but lauren conrad has absolutely no business gracing even the tiniest column of your magazine. "her" "designs" are NOT cute. they look like the boring aisle in target. she is on the cover of every tabloid, for what? being dull, uninteresting, and rich? you already broke my heart twice when you put avril on the cover, do not support this spoiled brat or i swear, i'm not renewing my subscription. the only people that want to see her clothes are 10 year olds, and i'm hoping nylon is more sophisticated than that.

Whatever you do Nylon, DO NOT feature her. This is terrible! Her accessories are so cheap looking, there is no actual DESIGN behind them. When I first saw them I thought you were featuring, like, Claire's or something. And to be honest, if she calls this her so-called "line" there is no guarentee she actually designed them (yes, I'm sure I just broke about 500 little wannabee teens hearts, but it's the truth). The majority of designers actually don't even own their own lines. Even if she did make all this junk, she hasn't done anything to work for what she has gotten in fame and life besides give up all her self-intitled privacy. Please, Nylon, don't feature this. Love you guys and just about everything you feature, but this would totally ruin it for me. I'm ashamed to even give this one star.

no no no no no. her pieces are NOT original, and, in fact, they are not even a good representation of the trends.i have seen them all over the place done a billion times better. plus, why would a groundbreaking and original magazine like NYLON feature someone like "LC" from Laguna Whatever, the most plastic and tragically sad television series to fly through the airwaves? Yes, she may have become somewhat of a style icon, but that is mainly to twelve and thirteen year olds who want to emulate nothing but LA fashion; and doesn't NYLON target and older demographic?

Nothing she does is remotely individual. She's is a copy of every other fashion student I've met so far. Generic and Nylon is definitely NOT generic, this will put a stain on your rep. I could buy those bracelets from the Barbie isle in Toy-R-Us. It's so very, very cheap. I'm disappointed you would even consider, you've always been so unique. Better versions of this 'line' are available at UO for goodness sake. My grandparents old skeleton key on a ribbon is more unique than this.

While I'm kind of digging the Blair Waldorf-esque hairband, I'm oddly reminded that I have a very similar one I got for dirt cheap at my local mall. The accessories are cookie-cutter versions of everything that's already been done. She's got style, but not the kind of style Nylon has. Besides, isn't this feature enough?

Im a designer and if only we all had it as easy as Lauren Conrad, I don't come from a well off background and when I graduate next year I am going to struggle to get my collection off the ground ... all real designers do ... it really annoys me that people like LC can become designers overnight just because they have spent the cash to buy the products there basically copying (yes kate moss at topshop is a perfect example) .... basically her products are things we've already seen .... maybe nylon should start show casing more up and coming talent and scouting at colleges ....

Those studded cuffs? Kenneth Jay Lane produced identical ones. The key necklace? Urban Outfitters has claimed that one, i'm sure. And the rest of the stuff? It looks like it could be mistaken for any of the heaps of garbage stocked at Forever 21.
This all seems like a joke. All these girls from these 'reality' shows getting handed clothing lines. They really are milking their 15 minutes for all they're worth.
This crap looks tacky and cheap, exactly like her clothing line.
