Here at NYLON we see trends in all areas: music, fashion, beauty products.... and now, baked goods.
Thanks to much-hyped shout outs in the past few years (Sex and the City, SNL), entire bakeries are now popping up with the purpose of producing just cupcakes (danish be damned). Here in New York, we know the hazards of braving the cupcake-crazed tourists outside Magnolia Bakery, but we know it's not just a Manhattan thing. Cities like Austin, L.A., and Seattle are feeling the heat too. Below are a few of our favorite cupcake-dedicated bakeries, from the healthy (gluten free delights) to the bizarre (Michael Jackson cupcakes-- we'll let you figure that one out).

What about Sugar Sweet Sunshine!? That was the cupcake of choice at the NYLON office as I recall.
Back in the Day Bakery in Savannah, GA has some pretty amazing cake-ettes. The chocolate heaven and the the red velvet cupcakes are to die for.

Kara's Cupcakes in San Francisco! They'll even make hundreds of tiny ones for special events. If there are leftovers, my dear friend, a slave of Kara herself, brings them home to share.
