KITTY IN THE CITY!

KITTY IN THE CITY!

Your favorite cartoon has a new role: ambassador for Japanese tourism.

Like Barbie, Hello Kitty has had many cartoon "careers" -

She's been an astronaut, a strawberry farmer, a disco queen, and even a horse jockey for unicorns.

But now the beloved character has a new, legit job:

She's just been named as a Japanese ambassador for tourism!

Hello Kitty follows the pop duo Puffy AmiYumi in the VIP role, and since she's so beloved around the world, it seems like an easy sell.  There's only two things a true Hello Kitty fan might wonder:

1.  Hello Kitty may have been created in Japan, but she actually lives in London (at least according to her Sanrio bio).  How does that work?

2.  Can she really speak about the incredible opportunities in her country if she doesn't have a mouth?

actually, the real reason hello kitty has no mouth is because she is supposed to appear emotionless. that way, the person who is looking at her can channel their emotions into her and make her look happy if they are happy or sad if they are sad. i'm not making this up, lol i read it in an interview with yuko yamaguchi - creator of hello kitty. haha and yes, i'm normal, i swear !
