I DREAM OF FORNARINA

I DREAM OF FORNARINA

La Lohan adds the finishing touch to Fornarina’s elaborate Urban Beauty Show in Paris.

On Monday night, the City of Lights hosted Fornarina’s annual Urban Beauty Show. Lest the name fool you, the Italian beauty giant collaborated with French graffiti artist Miss Van, American painter Glenn Barr, Spanish/Dutch illustrator Minje Shatje, Japanese artist Junko Mizuno, and tattoo artist Angelique Houtkamp for a spring collection presentation like no other.
Staged in the tres chic Carrousel du Louvre, New Young Pony Club and Simian Mobile Disco provided an electro soundtrack to nine performance art shows—Bejeweled mermaids wearing gem-encrusted headpieces and sparkly costumes rocked out as a band; Geisha girls in floral-printed jeans and tops of Fornarina’s signature fuchsia gingerly sliced a sculpture of an octopus’ tentacle to make sashimi; dancers dressed up like exotic birds acted as haute couturiers, pinning and prodding their male, caged counterparts.
If the live installations weren’t enough to whet your appetite, the Beauty Show’s special guest surely did: Lindsay Lohan, Fornarina’s new face for Spring 09. “I’m here for Fornarina. I’m going to be their new face,” she said. Ms. Lohan also recently shot a leggings campaign for her new line, 6126 (“It’s Marilyn Monroe’s birthday.”), due out in the holidays. Asked if she would design for Fornarina too, she said: “I would eventually love to do a clothing line. That would be great, but we haven’t started talking about that yet. I’d like to design a handbag or shoe possibly…”
