FIRST LOOK: ELIZABETH + JAMES
Mary Kate and Ashley sneak us a peek of their new Fall '08 clothes.
It's no secret that Ashley and Mary Kate Olsen have coveted style, so maybe their decision to become clothing designers isn't so far-fetched.
After launching their luxe line The Row (which included a memorable $200 t-shirt, but also some incredible cocktail dresses), the former NYLON cover girls created a diffusion line of younger, more affordable pieces called Elizabeth + James - the same names as their younger siblings.
For Fall, the line has the distinctive vibe of "trust fund babe goes to a rock concert" - there are Princess coats that happen to be cut in electric pink wool, flannel plaid skirts sliced so short they could be an ice dancing costume, and a variety of slouchy collars and hoods to help you hide from the paparazzi.
In short, everyone will want to wear it, and you can see it here first - unless MK + A have started sporting samples in their tabloid photos, and then, well, we tried.

I seriously don't even like the Olsen twins, but I'm actually shocked. Its not that bad. They've improved. The two girls with the umbrella have cute coats, and the color combination of the girl with the blue sweater and high waisted pants is nice also.

I love Elizabeth and James!! But these particular pieces don't do the line that much justice. I loved the shirt that Blake Lively wore in one picture of Gossip Girl spread from May issue though.

I doubt I would ever touch any of this... it looks like something you would find at goodwill from the 70's... That's pretty harsh but it's honest... Although, I do like Mary-Kate and Ashley... or well, I guess like everyone else my age grew up watching them as if they were a part of the family... Hopefully they will come up with something a bit more "casual" and normal and not so outlandish!! I like to be different and stand out... but not like that!

No offense but this is awful. I would never wear any of this. I liked the older Mary Kate and Ashley stuff way better than this. This stuff looks way too wanna-be 80s grunge and stuff that would come out of the Salvation Army.

Its interesting seeing what the Olsen's are doing. No matter what anybody says, people watch what they do and they influence fashion in some ways, whether it be positive to some or negative to the others. Go google them and look at old pics of them just hangin out a year or two ago and a lot of it will be stuff that people wear now. Sometimes they do flat out just wear things that aren't flattering, but at the same time they are ahead of the times.

The clothes on their website are much nicer. This, especially the first & second pictures, is pretty tasteless.I would expect a little more than a disgusting,oversized green t-shirt under boring overalls from them.

I must admit, I did have sort of a high expectation, considering I loved The Row. This stuff though is tacky, very tacky.
If I had the money, I would wear nothing but The Row.

ok i dont understand how people call their clothes "tacky" if you knew the first thing about couture you would realize the timeless elegance and couture these clothes represent. so please study your fashion books because obviously your just following the trends. fashionable clothes never go out of style. trends will. i think mary kate & ashley have done an excellent job of designing their line Elizabeth & James. its definitely something i could see on the runway or through the pages of vogue. my only complaint is that every magazine that critiques them says that their line of clothing is "more affordable" when im reality the clothes are still not affordable. but other than that i love it :]

This fashion sense is not as bad as some of you are saying, its unique. You need a right type of body type to wear these clothes though. And i would def, rock these clothes. ROCK IT ROCK IT!
