TOYS AND GIRLS

TOYS AND GIRLS

Nintendo wants to play in your purse. Are you game?

We'd be lying if we said we still couldn't hum the Super Mario theme song.  And sometimes, late at night, we play Tetris in our sleep.

But that's not enough for Nintendo, who've created a new, "girl friendly" line of their DS toys ("it stands for Dual Screen," scoffed my former intern when I gave a clueless look).

You see, not only are these teeny Nintendos fun to play - and they are, as I can attest from an hour's worth of games last night - but they're also color coded.

There's a pink Nintendo DS if you have a Gucci Indy bag.  There's a black one to fit into those Burberry studded purses.  There's a red DS for those who favor Valentino and Betsey Johnson, and a white one for those girls who must match everything to their iPod / iMac / iBook.

Do we need pretty colors to kick some ass at video games?

Absolutely not.

But it's way easier to hide them in the office or in class (or on a really bad date) because they look like little makeup cases.  And for that, I think we can be grateful.
