WE SEE LC!

WE SEE LC!

Lauren Conrad visits NYLON.

It's no secret that I watch too much TV.  So when Lauren Conrad - whom you probably know from The Hills - made an appointment with NYLON's fashion team this week, I pounced.

"Please?" I winked to fashion director J. Errico, and I guess I looked innocent enough, because he added me into the meeting.

So let's get the obvious stuff out of the way:

Yes, she really is that pretty in person, looking more like a Disney princess than even Amy Adams in Enchanted.  And yes, she's also really nice, sharply smart, and actually kind of funny:  "The first two seasons of my clothes are all named after my friends," she explained, "But then, you know, I totally ran out of friends!"

And as for those clothes:  She's into her third season of the Lauren Conrad line, which is all made from jersey cotton that's made in downtown Los Angeles.  The line ranges from $40 - $220, available to buy online or at Intermix, and we really liked some of the pieces.  They layer well, they deal with all different body types, "and they're machine washable AND dryable!" exclaimed Lauren.

If only she'd had the same luxury with the Alberta Ferretti gown she totally ruined on last night's Hills...

Anyway, Lauren swore "my clothes look better on my friends than they do on the hanger," so we put her thesis to the test, dressing up our intern Caitlin (who bears a suspicious resemblance to Lauren's partner-in-crime, Whitney Port) in three of our favorite Lauren Conrad pieces.

Do they belong in a future issue of NYLON?  Have a look and let us know what you think...

I love The Hills, but Lauren's designs are so boring, please don't add them into an issue! The dresses are so bland and overplayed. :/

they're cute, but not NYLON worthy.

Margaret

Please put them in the Nylon issue, people just disagree with it because they most likely don't like her or the show, the designs are simple and can totally be layered with different things, its all about how you wear them and the type of personality a person has, it's boring if someone doesn't have flare or a personality to go with the dresses so maybe these people are just too boring for her designs!!!! I think they're fantastic!

Lauren Conrad's clothes lack just as much style and creativity as she does. They are tragic cutouts of "real" designers' lines and poorly imitated. Take it back to your daddy sweetie.

i totally agree nylon rocks and so does laurens line

Jessica

03/25/2008

I agree with this Margaret girl, the magazine has so much style and personality and many people who read this magazine would be able to wear the dresses well and pair the dresses up with cute bags, jackets, and accessories that fit their personality!!

03/25/2008

Please, Nylon, I'm begging you. Lauren only has this opportunity because of her stupid reality show. Thats fake and so is her effort and so-called creativity. Please, go out and find someone thats actually innovative with their designs! And the basics have been done and have been done well by American Apparrel, and who needs an outrageously priced copy of that? NOT I!

Lexi

03/25/2008

being a fan of the hills and lauren - and duh! nylon! why not? they are very hipster and chic, perfect for Nylon and its models.

Mackenzie

03/25/2008

Agreed. Nylon is all about creativity, fashion, and new ideas, Lauren Conrad's line is PERFECT for it.

Jessica

03/25/2008

She has enough creativity to make it big enough to have a website for her designs so I would not call her efforts and creativity as "fake". lauren's designs are very innovative and they appeal to many different types of people as well. they are casual and you can also dress them up, how is that not innovative and genius??! I would LOVE to see lauren's line in an issue of Nylon! =)

Sarah

03/25/2008

I agree with Margaret, Lauren's designs are simple but that gives the consumer the opportunity to add their personality to the designs, just like any other kind of design or dress someone might buy. Nylon is not all about couture designs and extravagant pieces anyways, its not Vogue. It's hip and its fresh. Just like Lauren's new line!

Pauline

03/25/2008

Lauren Conrad's clothes are so unimaginative. They do not deserve to be in the magazine.

JAY

03/25/2008

Just because Lauren's designs are more basic, it doesn't mean they're not innovative. And when I mean "basic," I mean that her line seems easy to worth regarding accessorizing and what not. Her pieces can be worn alone or made more funky with the right accessories. I agree that she's "sharply smart" and to those who have negativity towards her, that's your opinion and this is MINE. Her line is Nylon-worthy. :-) Thanks for the story - very cool! :-D

Blalala

03/25/2008

Why is this chick even in your offices... I thought you guys were above that fake douche bag ho. Leave her for Seventeen magazine... & like I even have to answer- NOOOO her wack buster azz clothes should not be in the mag!!

JAY

yes, i love the clothes! & lauren. please put them in the mag. the clothes look like something i'd find in nylon! & i agree that people say they don't like them b/c it's lauren conrad & they might not like her. i think that if they just saw the clothes & no lauren conrad label, they would fall in love.

jules

03/25/2008

The clothes belong in Seventeen and Cosmogirl - for those young women with no imagination. Quite frankly, the notion of putting these clothes into NYLON seems like a dry joke... right? Or have you totally sold out?

lauren is not a fake douche bag ho!! and 99.9999% of you have never met her before and base everything you know off of her "reality show." clearly, she is a cool chick because someone at nylon met her and thinks she is smart and funny!!! and people at nylon are smart and funny! DUH. positive energy people! oh and sell out???? they are CLOTHES people. so i guess a person sells out because they have a personality and like certain dresses and designs, thats selling out.... RIGHT....not. and by the way, girls that read cosmogirl and seventeen are in the 14-17 year old radius and im pretty sure that when I was in that age range i had an imagination and im sure you did as well. sooo quite frankly i disagree with you, jules.

Are you kidding me? LAUREN CONRAD? It sickens me that she was ever chosen to be a teen vogue intern when she was just a regular drama teenager from Laguna Beach with NO STYLE. Her fashion line is a fucking joke!

do it. why not take a chance? isn't that what nylons about?

Nida

03/25/2008

What a waste of space. I've read your magazines Nylon, and please, please don't put Lauren Conrad in it. Put INSPIRING and CREATIVE fashionistas in it. Not some chick who got famous off of a drama reality tv show and calls her line "high fashion". Her line is ridiculous and I can't believe Nylon would consider putting her and her "line" in it!

Lucy

03/25/2008

They are a little blan and boring, but all the more to glamor them up with her fav designer marc jacobs jewelry. I think Laurens on her way forsure. shes pulling out a more personal styled american apparel type. show her bright colourful dresses skirts etc for spring! it'll be great.

chelsea

03/25/2008

NYLON, please don't just put her in because her name is well known!! she obviously has no problem being seen...so why not find that new designer who could use the publicity.

Jess

03/25/2008

The clothes are simple but so versitile...love it! :)

Teresa

03/25/2008

I don't think that you should showcase her line because your magazine appeals to readers that have the knowledge to appreciate true workmanship and creative talent. Lauren Conrad clearly got to where she is because she has money and connections NOT because of her talent. If Nylon features her, it sends a clear message to readers that the magazine is willing to sell itself out in order to appeal to a mainstream sudience. Nylon should stay true to what it represents - edgy, innovative fashion. As a reader, I would respect the magazine more for it.

Jenn

03/25/2008

Absolutely not. These designs aren't really anything original. I'm sure we've all seen them done before, and better, at that. Please don't disappoint, NYLON.

erika

LC has coverage. She's a Teen Vogue's poster girl, and she has a developed fan base. When did Nylon become so mainstream? When did you stop inspiring and start reflecting what everyone else? Your magazine reads like an advertisement and Lauren Conrad is just another ruthless promotion. Besides, would you even want to wear her clothes?

jamie

03/25/2008

please no. it will be a sad day when i can't look at your editorials and be inspired. and that's what you're about to do with this nonsense.

i don't think the line is all that exciting. that said, american apparrel doesn't make me wet my pants but i couldn't live without it. i think Lauren's pieces are a great base for an accessories-driven outfit. i love simple clothes, and anyone that says they're "too boring" is obviously lacking in creativity. TEAM LC! (lord, did i really just say that?)

Jamie

03/25/2008

I vote an absolute yes. Everyone keeps saying the clothing is uninspired, but they're good twists on classic pieces that can fit in any girl's wardrobe. And as for creative? The girl wearing the clothes should bring that in, should she not? You can match accessories, layers or printed pieces with the solid colors, and make it something different than how anyone else would wear it. It shouldn't matter who the designer is, it should matter whether or not you actually like the clothing. I love all of the things shown in the pictures, and want one of those skirts of my own.

Jessica

03/25/2008

No! I love Lauren and I'm a huge fan of The Hills, but her line is nothing special. It's boring and all been done before! She should look for inspiration somewhere other than American Apparel and then try again.

Sarah

03/25/2008

I love her style. People will hate on her because she's a reality TV star, but I think her clothes are totally wearable and cute! I own the Audrina dress and I love it!

Anna

03/25/2008

Give real designers a chance. She has backing from MTV and Tangerine Promotions. Also she is a total media tart she evens sits outside so paps can get a better shot of her. Check out fashion mag daily and Wall Street Journal. I posted links below. Plus she is totally false http://fashionmagdaily.com/website/?p=2606 and WSJ http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120605713740853345.html?mod=hps_us_inside_today Give young talented designers a chance. Thanks love your mag

NO! DO NOT SHOOT HER FOR THE MAGAZINE! Lauren has been spoiled enough with her dream internship at Teen Vogue. She is selfish and a control freak. Who does she think she is to straight stitch an Alberta Ferretti ball gown and wear it to a club?! She is the epitome of Tabloid Culture and NYLON is so above that.

AlleyFrey

03/26/2008

Nylon can be described as a magazine that features innovative & fashion forward pieces that are used to inspire. In my opinion, Lauren's Line does NOT embody those characteristics nor would her line measure up to that philosophy. I'm dissappointed with her line... she studied at FIDM, worked with Teen Vogue, studied and Paris and this is all she's got? Thumbs down.

lc's designs overall are nice, they are simple and can be paired with other items that give the outfit more individuality, but like other people have said, they are not fashion forward and are designs that have been seen many times before, personally, i think NYLON should give a chance for more innovative designers, ones that dont have their fame from a tv show

another 'famous for no reason, rich young girl, starting a fashion line.' Her clothes are so basic, you could find them at any mall for way cheaper. Next time, try focusing on someone with talent and that has real style.

Cocotte

03/26/2008

Gabriela

03/26/2008

I say no. The only reason she has a label is because she's already rich. Plus, the designs are incredibly boring. Its as if she took american apparel's entire stock and stamped her own name on the tags. Find someone with substance who grew up without privilege and can actually sew. 'Cause I am guessing this girl can't.

Lauren's great on TV but I don't think she deserves to be in Nylon Magazine...or even in the fashion industry.

Fashion LA

03/26/2008

I do not think her line should be featured in Nylon magazine. I feel her designs and quality of her line is poor. She is trying to go for the high end look but in all honesty, it more for the wal-mart customer. Its seriously a joke how she is considered a designer. Its like saying oh I was on MTV i want to be president of the United States. Lauren I'm sorry but you should just stick to reality TV (not that you're good at that either) cheers

Couture Obsessed

03/26/2008

Many people will not even give her chance because she is on a tv show on MTV. You guys put the Miller sisters on the cover and Sienna has no background in fashion. Lauren actually went to school and her designs are good. They may not be the most innovative but not all fashion is innovative. Her clothes are chic and simple good quality that people can wear and make their own. Please showcase her stuff in Nylon like give her a spread or the cover. I would definately buy it.

sherman

03/26/2008

i love the hills and ive been a fan of lauren conrad since the first season of laguna beach, but im not so sure if her clothes alone are the nylon style. unless nylon accessories her designs to make them work, and make them more appealing to the nylon reader. i feel like maybe she should stick to teen vogue and display her outfits there? her last two out fits; the purple skirt, pink top,and black jacket, and the black dress, with the yellow pumps, and the blue shades are cute. nylon should make her outfits work and take it as a challenge to make readers who don't like her designs have a second thought.

03/27/2008

Dear Nylon, I just want to tell you some personal details on why this line shouldn't be on Nylon mag. I am a FIDM graduate, and I think you shouldn't put L.C. on your magazine, she makes our school look bad, some of us FIDM students deserve more of the chance to be in this magazine but we dont have the fame or money, all we have is the talent, some else should be known of work that we actually worked hard on. L.C. or Lauren however you want to say her name, hardly went to school, and didnt even graduate yet. I had her for a few classes, and she isn't the sweet and innocent girl you think she is from the Hills, just to clear things up that is just a show, and it makes me feel depressed how they use this publicity of our school, and make us look like we are so laid back when it isnt true, we are hard workers and we want to make it in life. celebrities like her make us look so horrible. And i think i have a good point that Nylon mag should focus on someone who really needs to be known and someone who has great talent. Lauren doesnt even know how to use Illustrator, people do it for her. Because SHE HAS THE MONEY! ask her what a croquis is and she wont even know. you see her on teen vogue as an intern, but it isnt easy like that in the industry, they are very cruel to you and people do more work than her and work hard. please listen to my point. and to clear things up Heidi never went to FIDM it is all a show. they even had to block some of our FIDM laptops for Lauren and Heidi to use it for the show when us FIDM students needed to use the computers!!!!!!!!for actually work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!they kicked us out!

Eden

03/27/2008

i hate to be blunt about this but if you but L.C. on your magazine, I will no longer be a customer!

Lorena

03/27/2008

Lauren should just be an actress not a fashion designer lol she sucks ass

Beyonce

03/27/2008

Dear Nylon, I would really like to see LC line in your magazine for several reasons. First, I really like the fact that Lauren actually went to school for her trade. Since before she was discovered by MTV it had been her passion to be a designer. It is not like other celebrities that are just using their name to make money off their fans. Secondly, we can tell that she has put a lot of work into her line. It reflects her style. I understand that It may not be to everyone taste but the fact that she designed this wearable collection that she modeled after her own style show to me that she believes in the line. As oppose to someone like Nicky Hilton, who we never see wear one of her clothes. Plus, I love her collection. It is elegant and chic that people can style to fit their personal style. I already own a few pieces and they are great quality. In addition, the fact that she insists that her clothes be made in the US and not some sweat shop in the third world is just icing on the cake. Please give her a feature, as a buyer of Nylon magazine, I would welcome the idea.

fashionista

03/27/2008

Forget these people who do not want her in nylon because her clothes are too simple. Fashion is subjective, some happens to like simple, clean cut and chic clothes. I would love to see her in you magazine.

03/27/2008

her designs r so plain.... i love her in the hills..but she is a crappy designer and the model is so ugly...how do ugly ppl become models??

dc girl

03/27/2008

I'd actually like to see her and Whitney on the cover. Give the girl a chance. She's been working in the industry since she was in highschool - way before Laguna Beach aired. People just hate because she's from a wealthy family and was given all these opportunities. For all you whiners out there - you know you'd jump at the chance to be in her shoes. Who wouldn't take advantage of that? She's young, she works hard and she's really dedicated to this line. Plus she actually wears her clothes (unlike many "celeb" designers) and wears them well.

Yes, yes, yes! That would be a great cover Whitney and Lauren in edgy designs. I would totally buy that cover, the last one I bought was the one with Rachel Bilson. Love lauren clothes I have 3 pieces and good quality and I spice them up how I want too.

PLEASE! Do NOT put lauren conrad into the magazine. I agree with Kellie, some of her pieces might be cute, but definitely NOT Nylon worthy. I think her designs are too simple and bland, and very basic. I don't see any creativity. Some may think they look nice, but it's nothing new. One can find the same looks for cheaper prices elsewhere.

OC Girl

Her clothes are great. People are just jealous of her success. Lauren has an opportunity and she is taking it like anyone would. Whats wrong with basics?? We all need them. I would like to see what you people wear on a daily basis. So quick to judge!!

03/27/2008

NO. she "went" to my school and did NOT get a degree in fashion design. these are not her designs. credit should be given to the actual designers and not the girl who has some color say so and puts her name on it. on top of all of that the clothes remind me of forever 21. NYLON is sooooooooooooo much better than that. cmon guys. if you have to ask if you should....go with your best judgement.

03/27/2008

itsa not that i dislike her as a person but her design asthetic isnt strong and so subsequently neither are the clothes, but waht can she do she's stilll n design skoool and lets just mentionthat not everyone is a hernando teeehee

STAN

03/27/2008

i meant the clothing line doesnt fit Nylon's style.. it shouldn't be featured. i'm glad that i'm not the only one who dislikes her clothing line.. i'm glad that everyone else has more fashion sense than to be stuck wearing a boring jersey dress!!! it gives me hope about the future of fashion.. enough boring old jeans too, people! private> the incident abt the FIDM computers.. that really sucks! the school already lacks enough computers..!

Unknown

03/27/2008

Here's a great Nylon article. for the person that wrote about L.C. going to FIDM, and how the computers were blocked for the show. I think Nylon should try to get someone from FIDM who really is talented, and also do an article on how L.C. is a fake, and actually have her answer some tough questions about fashion, why doesnt Nylong give her an interview and ask her what are the fashion basics, and the tools you need, and everything like that. it would be hilarious because she wouldnt know. think about it, if you ever see "the Hills" they dont focus on her sense of fashion knowledge, all they focus on is her stupid untalented worthless self. I SAY NYLON INTERVIEWS A FIDM STUDENT, SHOW A REAL UNIQUE DESIGN, AND INTERVIEW L.C. ON HER FASHION KNOWLEDGE SO BOTH CAN BE HAPPY =)

aNa

03/27/2008

i like the black jacket, but i dont like to much the model, and i know its not about the model that we're talkin, but i think that a model can make see the clothes better than they are...and really that model doesn't look good on the clothes of Lauren but i do like the clothes she obviously like fashion and make it note. i like the clothes a lot, but mostly that black jacket showed in the 3th picture :D LOVE IT! <3 :D

SAJIN

03/27/2008

i agree unknown. i mean its bad enough that some students cannot afford to go to a fashion school, because how expensive it is, and i support those people because some of them have true talent, and need to be heard. lauren already has too much media and she doesnt deserve it, because she has the fame and the money and not the talent. its tough out there, and an underground, low key fashionista deserves it, not lauren. do an article on someone else Nylon, give some other person a chance, and please stop only sticking to celebrities, how can real fashionistas be heard? if this industry only cares about the fame. its not understandable how much money these students waste, and the media only focuses on the rich and untalented.p.s. there should be a rating 8 in this

Sajin

03/27/2008

i meant to say there should be a rating 0 on this!

Beverly

03/27/2008

Lauren probably paid some designer to design her flat sketches and had a sample maker do it, and also got a manufacturer from china to make her clothes, "labor work" when she couldve design them herself. i mean as technical designing, because thats what she went to school for. knowing Lauren and being one of her classmates, she was never good in fashion knowledge, she barely went to class, she didnt even graduate, she was totally rude, and conceided i may say, just do us a favor and dont put her line on nylon its so plain and boring and please dont compare her line to american apparel, totally different. her designs look like she grabbed a bunch of ragged up fabrics and glued them together

Tasha

03/27/2008

minus the fame, minus the money, add some talent, lets see if she can succeed

SLM

03/27/2008

whatever

03/27/2008

Um...her clothes are all made in the U.S. People are just hating because she has a reality tv show. ALL designers have financial backers. Lauren's paid her dues. If you all were offered what she was, you'd take it.

DQ

03/27/2008

i think you should give her a chance.

Ina

03/27/2008

I love her line. I think we can all agree that the garments are basics, but there is so much you can do with basics. She has amazing colors in her line and some really cute styles. And no you cannot get the same stuff in Forever 21. Lauren's fabrics are high quality , clothes are made solely in the U.S and under controlled circumstances, NOT in a sweatshop in Bangkok. So don't talk shit when you have no idea what you are saying. If you don't have the imagination to dress up these items or dress down then you should take a long hard look at yourself and not her line. She has worked really hard to get where she is, all her peers have faded into oblivion. Nylon should definitely use her designs in the next issus, her stuff is really amazing quality basics!

aaliyeh

I feel that Nylon always goes for something more quirky and special. If Nylon puts this in it would be like Cosmogirl. Boring.

Ebony

03/28/2008

People just love to hate. I like Lauren's show and I like her designs. Are they ground breaking? NO! But they are simple pieces that you can amp up with accessories. The girl has got to start somewhere and if she is really designing these pieces herself whether some people think they are boring; then she needs the exposure just the same as anyone else...She's trying to be something other than a reality star; she's gone to school and now wants to put her education to the test. And to me that's admirable. People spend to much time hating on people while on these blogs. Have respect for the girl she's doing what she needs to do to break down some doors for herself...

Jess

03/28/2008

All of the designs are pathetic. They look a first year design students work. Put something in your mag that deserves to be there. LC has been given things on a silver platter all her life. Expose someone elses work. Someone who has put in the hard yards to get there!

GirlGirl

03/28/2008

LadyFrank

03/28/2008

I love the Hills (don't get me wrong) but LC's clothes??? I'll pass. The looks are sub par and the fit look awkward. Besides, there are so many emerging designers out there who don't have the luxury of MTV-backed hype. Nylon is all about keeping it real and exposing emerging talent. It's a good look and it works. Why go Hollywood?

03/28/2008

i concur with most that putting lauren's clothes in your issue would be a very very big mistake. from your own writing i can already tell that you dont think much of her collection either, which is obviously a total bore. literally anyone can "design" clothing like that.. i mean, that's why we have the paris hiltons and jennifer lopezes and victoria beckhams of the world all hatching their own "fashion lines" out of nowhere these days- the only reason lauren would even have the opportunity to create her own line is because she was on a cheesy reality show. i find it very unfortunate and an insult to the real talents of the fashion industry that people like lauren conrad are even given opportunities to do whatever they want, just because they have a semi-pretty face, are egocentric and willing to act bitchy on a lame reality show like "laguna beach". if lauren conrad were not a b grade "celebrity", she would never be able to produce her own line because, frankly, it sucks, she's unfriendly, selfish, and not very bright. she should go back to being a nanny or something else she'd be more good at. i would be sincerely disappointed in Nylon if you featured her in the magazine- her trip to your magazine headquarters is very obviously a desperate plea for publicity for her "clothing line", which i can guess must be doing deservedly unwell. and please stop "supporting" lauren conrad- it's as pointless as supporting paris hilton and nearly as detrimental as well- devotion to someone with absolutely no talent is very off-putting and says a lot about the present world condition.

I like the 3rd look with the high waisted purple skirt. I like how she wore it too. The last dress only looks good because of how you put it together. The other ones are bleh. I could come up with better designs, its all just solid colors, and its way too over priced for something so simple.

Melanie

03/28/2008

I will agree her "designs" are adorable and simplistic, however that is just it. they are not different. also they are extrememly overpriced for what they are. which are simple jersey/cotton dresses one could find at forever 21

You've GOT to be kidding me: Lauren Conrad + Nylon? No, no, a thousand times no. This girl is not a fashion designer. What went walking down the runway when she showed her collection? Nothing but a bunch of unimaginative basic pieces blatantly attempting to rip off other designers' fine work. Fashion is always going to base its ideas off others, but her work is poor quality, contrived, and utterly falls flat. It's unsettling to think that you'd even consider putting a person like Conrad Nylon. THERE'S NO RELEVANCY. I can't fathom that there could be a single similarity between her (and her work), and this magazine. Seriously, if she is showcased her, that is the end of my increasingly brittle relationship with Nylon.

03/28/2008

Yo Yo Yo Simon, harsh on the words. Lauren's designs are aiight, but she shouldn't make it to Nylon mag. Focus more on Teen Vogue, Nylon is originality and Paula she does has a nice smile, but boring style. Better luck next time Lauren, just keep working hard like the real fashion designers, don't give up. Just go back to school, we're you should learn more, and give your designs more detailing.

It must suck having a passion for something like fashion and everyone expecting much more from your line because your some kind of celebrity - constantly watched on t.v and off BUT this line is just boring and if the line was spectacular then her T.V status wouldn't count for shit. I thought it would be alot better- im disappointed

Even if she wasn't rich, even if she wasn't a reality star. If she was a new up and comer I still wouldn't like it, however I do sorta like the purple high waisted skirt and that black jacket. But yeah they're simple and can be wore many different ways I guess but I CAN buy the same thing many different places for way less than half the price. For simple clothes there isn't anything that great about them, she could have added a little something to make it stand out! And I don't wanna sound like some one who hates her for her fame but she wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her fame, she's not that great and doesn't deserve to be on Nylon.

ZOE

03/29/2008

And how do some of you know its "high quality" fabric and thats why its so expensive. I doubt it. She probably came up with the designs but she probably had someone sketch them out for her. If she deserves a designing job then so do I!

Nicole

03/29/2008

Please Nylon feature a cover of Whitney and Lauren both modeling clothes from their line. I just saw three pieces from Whit line in people mag, she has some cute stuff, a little fancier than Lauren. I also like Lauren line and it is great quality. Please give these girls a chance, I prefer Lauren line to that Chloe line you featured this month.

I checked out the website and the only piece that really caught my eye was the skirt. Her line really lacks originality ... simple clothes are great to dress up with accessories, but these are nothing special and don't warrant special attention. I've watched Laguna Beach, I'll admit- that's her thing, designing isn't.

Lauren is a cool chick on The Hills, and it is totally understandable that she wants to pursue her fashion career as a designer. However, I feel like her designer line is not ready to hit the fashion world. Most importantly, it is not something a person would say "WOW, I really want that!" It seems typical, a line of simple wear I can see at small shops around the town by local designers.

Eliana

04/01/2008

Im amazed at how quickly people went to say rude and mean things about the line. Some people commented on how its not worthy..isnt that like the best part of fashion? Making the best outfit out of great simple pieces? sometimes the best pieces are the ones that dont look it. Im sad to hear the things people are saying and resort to calling names. If people dont like her clothes because she has no fashion sense or shes on reality tv..guess what? shes already famous...so get over it. Not all of her stuff is great..but shes got some good pieces..Shes just trying do what she loves..maybe people should give her a chance and Nylon should to..

jackie

04/01/2008

i absolutely think they belong in Nylon. Lauren's line is full of a lot pieces that you can do soo much with. With a little imagination you can turn practically anything she has into 20 different outfits. Yes, they're very basic pieces but they're great classic things that will last. Sure you probably could go to XXI and get similiar stuff... but we all know that it will fall apart after one wear. So i guess it boils down to if you want some classy, high quality, and very versatile vs something that is not.

the only reason lauren got this opportunity to do this line is because of her show, not from pure talent. you cant deny you can find similar things in forever 21. which proves her line is just ordinary, plain, already seen. i dont see anything different, inspiring or eccentrically fashionable in her things. so her stuff is not good enough for nylon. its okay but not fit for nylon standards.

i was reading all the other comments and people keep defending lauren because her clothes are plain classy and chic. yes thats all it is. nothing TOO SPECIAL. im a fashion design student and from what i study and see in other upcoming designers i definitely dont see in lauren. just because someone loves fashion doesnt signify they are creative, and talented enough to design revolutionary clothing. and other aspiring designers like herself have a different mindset, they stand out. she doesnt, i live in the oc, where she is from and she designs for the typical OC image and thats good for her, but again NOT FOR NYLON. please!!!!

i was reading all the other comments and people keep defending lauren because her clothes are plain classy and chic. yes thats all it is. nothing TOO SPECIAL. im a fashion design student and from what i study and see in other upcoming designers i definitely dont see in lauren. just because someone loves fashion doesnt signify they are creative, and talented enough to design revolutionary clothing. and other aspiring designers like herself have a different mindset, they stand out. she doesnt, i live in the oc, where she is from and she designs for the typical OC image and thats good for her, but again NOT FOR NYLON. please!!!!

i'm really starting to lose my faith in NYLON...you guys used to be cool, with all of the unique things you were reporting on and showing in the magazine and really help new talents. sorry, but lauren has way more press than she needs already, so i dont see why NYLON has to jump on the band wagon instead of trying to find talented designers who actually deserve the recognition.

ooh, NYLON, this is tough... I'm sure you guys could pull it off cause you're amazing but honestly...but I would be a little disappointed with you...just like when you had Rachel Bilson on the cover. meh...I say no.

OVERRATED. Is this what NYLON has come to? Pandering to a flash in the pan reality star who has more money and contacts than sense?? Is she a unique designer with something new to offer? I don't think so and she hasn't worked hard at ALL to get where she is today. She's not quirky or original, and I thought that's what this magazine was about. I think her idea to have the labor sourced in LA good but that's not enough to back up any reasons to support it.

I lovee the hills, but I lovee nylon M O R E! nylon is unique and atrsy, and lets just say laren ISN'T even close to that. so I say no. &ily nylon<33

Plain and simple: Lauren's line is NOTt Nylon material. As much as i love the girl, i would be greatly disappointed if you featured her in the magazine.

both lc and her clothes are defnitely not nylon. sadly, you guys are leaning more and more towards seventeen's style. i miss the old nylon.

I'm shocked Nylon even spoke to her-she is just so un-nylon Lauren is just SO TYPICAL. as someone mentioned before, her clothes belong in an issue of Seventeen

Karen

04/15/2008

I would rate this midway because I think LC is a good girl but (and this is a big one) there are other people who don't drive a Mercedes Benz or have the money to be known to even get a small first pages article in Nylon. I feel like maybe the dream of making it big in the US means that you have to start out with a ton of cash... I don't know, this whole celebrity thing makes me sad.

If I am on the cover than LC should def be on the cover. She has her own LA chic fashion sense, her show has millions more viewers than mine and she is a much better actress than I am.

Lauren deserves to be in nylon. Just because she has an understated fashion does not make her less fashionable. she is like jacky Kennedy of our days. Place have a dual cover of her and Whitney. It would be great.

People need to relax. Her line isn't horrible, and let's face it: if this clothing was designed by some new indepedent designer I don't think anyone would be having a problem here.

nylon, please do not put her in your magazine. fan of the hills, yes but a fan of her line i am not. its such a let down she already has enough money from her tv show and her parents. im studying fashion in australia and i would kill for a spot at FIDM and to find out she barely goes!? who would waste that. please put up and coming/unknown designers in who deserve the recognition! she has minimal talent and is just riding on her fame.

She does NOT belong in Nylon...she's no where near good enough. I go to the same school as her, and let me just say, never have I heard a conversation about Lauren Conrad that wasn't totally ripping her and her "line" to little pieces. It's sad really, but very true that ALL of her stuff is WAY OVER PRICED and made of cotton jersey..how much cheaper can you get?! Give me a break...and call me when she designs something worth my time.

I def. think her collection should be added to an issue of Nylon. Nylon, is all bout mixin and matchin different pieces to find your own unique style. That is exactly something Lauren's collection could bring to the table. Most of the garments in Nylon are plain things that are put together with other things to make them absolutely awesome, and POP!... so why not give Lauren a chance, and so what if she is getting a lot of opportunities through her show!.. that is exactly what she should be doing..., I mean everyone knows that, "Its not what you know, but mostly who you know." Lauren keep up the good work and you have def. won me over as a customer!

definitely, lauren's clothes are really nice, and are really easy to wear. to those saying it would be too mainstream, get over yourself. if you consider yourself 'alternative' then you aren't. it's as simple as that.

lauren's designs are nothing special. i only like the 3rd one anyways... even her clothes on the show arn't that cute, they're all too plain for my taste. i really wish that you guys could look into whitney port's designs... that girl is the one who has some style. even audrina from the hills has better fashion sence, it's more edgy and cool.

I believe her line is simple, but i enjoy it. Everyone would look good in something, it's diverse and seems easy enough to just slip into, and look GOOD. Even if she wasn't in the show, i'd still think she makes nice clothes. ;]
