DKNY Jeans hires legendary comic strip creator for their newest line.

Art and fashion have always smashed together, especially when it comes to designer clothes:

Julie Verhoeven made a Mulberry bag last year, while Richard Prince helped Marc Jacobs with his latest slew of accessories.

Now DKNY Jeans joins the museum movement, hiring comic book legend Paul Pope to helm a new range.

Debuting in stores this Fall, the Paul Pope line features original graphics by the artist, whose Spiderman and Batman renditions for Marvel are among some of the most collected in the world.

Pope's line starts selling in August, but NYLON has the exclusive first photos of the clothes right now...

Google is your friend. Do we not do fact-checking anymore? pssst: Batman is published by DC Comics, not Marvel, whom publishes Spider-man. These are some badass designs, though, for sure.

Paul Pope is a total sellout. You suck, Paul.

Paul Pope is DOPE!

hmm, I don't really think that being able to cartoon translates to designing clothes in Paul Pope's case.

The black hoodie and the yellow t-shirt are good, the rest suck. Yes he is a sellout. But then, so is everyone.

Comics Are For Kids

Paul Pope has been involved in the fashion scene for a couple of years now. Although I would prefer that he spend more time producing comics, I am looking forward to wearing some of his art. Paul Pope is a sellout? How old are you?

Funny stuff... Paul Pope a.k.a Homo Lips is plastering his artwork all over vacant eyed models who are completely oblivous to it's origin. DKNY is over priced crap.

Sellout? In a way sure, but who is he hurting with this project? I'd rather wear some Paul Pope illustrations on my shirt than some stupid photo os something. And he's not going to stop making comics because of this. He lives for the comics. This is a money gig (It's not like you get rich drawing comics) and playing around for him. If anything, maybe this can open some kids eyes to the comics scene.

Paul has immaculate design sensibilities. I'm interested to see if he designed any new style jeans for the company (sans art). Something just a little out of the norm, maybe.

Really, really lovely. I especially like the jacket and the yellow t-shirt. He's a commercial artist to begin with; How exactly is he selling out?

Sell out? Get over it. These are great, especially the original camo design. Can't wait to get some of these items!

calling him a "sell out" made me chuckle. Paul is not designing the clothes, but providing the patterns and illustrations on the clothes. At least that is how i understood the project. I see it as a natural progression of what Paul has always been about. good for you, man! just hope you have some "big boy" sized shirts for comic artists like me. heh heh cheers!

I've been reading his work since sin-titulo, thb, and escapo, and have watched his work grow from an unknown underground comic into a household name. I'm glad talented artists are being recognized by the fashion world. James Jean is in the club too... I hope they make PP attire for ladies too.

I don't like the clothes that much, but how can anyone call Paul a sell-out? The guy is a fantastic artist and he is now trying a new field. He's always produced art with integrity, even when doing mainstream stuff like Batman. His personality and unique way of seeing and representing always comes through. I hope he keeps trying at clothes and comes up with something better. His comic work has consistently deepened and improved, so maybe he'll get the hang of fashion, also.
