Quiksilver is known for sponsoring top surfers, but their latest crop of women aren't riding waves - they're riding the currents of art and activism to make creative changes to their communities.
This month, Quiksilver announces Site LA, a yearlong residency project that treats artists like athletes, sponsoring their daily activities so they can focus on work.
The seven chosen women will spend a year working together (and the whole thing sounds a little like
The Real World, but with substance).
The new roommates include Dorothy Le, a cyclist who fights for women's safety on the streets; Jesse Rodato, an architect who creates mobile skate parks for inner city children; and CC Sheffield, a girl who calls herself a "hustler" but seems to be a model without a portfolio.
You can follow all the girls' adventures
on Quiksilver.com or visit them yourself at SiteLA, 2522 Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles California.
Visiting hours are Saturday from 1pm - 6pm, starting in March.
