“Opening the boutique had always been part of our master plan, to be a Fred Segal of the East, of sorts,” says Misha Anderson, who just added clothes to the cut and color menu at Williamsburg salon and sister act, with Erin, Woodley & Bunny.
Self-proclaimed beauty junkies, the Andersons opened up the hair salon and apothecary in the summer of ’06, and quickly became the go-to spot for a great do for Bedford hipsters and Manhattanites (NYLON TV shot many a makeover there) alike. With Erin at the reigns of the salon, Misha, who’s been stitching and sewing since she was eight, seized the loft space upstairs and has stocked it with a well-edited collection of international and indie designers for men and women: Vivienne Westwood, Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair, Rag & Bone, Linda Farrow Vintage, Chronicles of Never, Life With Bird, Radcliffe…to name a few.
“I would have to say the Anglomania “Fichu” dress is my favorite,” reveals Misha, “it’s dramatic, sexy, feminine…tight with buttons down the front and a huge collar.” Today it is draped on a rack in the cavernous space that, like the salon, is beautifully designed, with windows across the wall, exposed raw metal beams, and dangling bulbs. Hopefully too, like the salon, shoppers will be served bottles of Brooklyn Lager!
