I think the whole street fashion thing is neat, and worth reading about. But, only showing two pictures is kinda lame.

it's pretty easy these days to predict hip. its a mixture of either the dark cowboy look shown on that guy or the demure dark haired librarian girl who listens to "good music" . i like the new rave scene in l.a. i'm glad early 90's day glo is finally becoming hot again down there. fashion weaves in and out with threads of hippie brown, motley crue black, audrey hepburn cuts, and woodstock freedom. i'm sure tech vests will be way hot in 2010.

These are both beautiful photos, but they really don't show Melbourne at it's best. As a Melbournian, we have some pretty awesome styles floating around. Nothing beats Paris & New York though.

Come on guys, I'm from Sydney and even I'll admit you're definitely not giving Melbourne street style the credit it deserves with only two pics. Aussie kids know how to dress my friend!

I gotta agree with Laura and Michelle, give us Aussie kids some credit.. We have some sweet styles, you're just yet to discover them!

Melbourne is the fashion capital. You will see us as if you haven't seen anything like this before.

All the auzsie kids are rite...i havent been to melbourne since i was little from what ive heard its shopping and fashion central...and im from sydney! Mayb we should stick outside the steriotypical fashion cities coz you will never know what you can find out there! AKA the urban style in australia

are you kidding???! this is nothing. it barely touches on Melbourne fashion. We are a mix fashion citizen. Australia is out of base with the rest of the world and Melbourne is way down south. We have our own culture guys.
Go to Brunswick and Smith Street. Go to Acland and Fitzroy Street. In the city down the obscure alleys and laneways where the underground fashionista breeds. There's also Chapel Street, Balaclava Road, Sydney Road, High street... We have heaps of fashion streets. It's time for people to wake up to australian fashion.
(sorry if i sound a bit aggravated but i do feel like i'm a fashion activist sometimes)

This is not fashion. It's putting on whatever looks trendy. It's thoughtless. I'm sure it's fun to wear the stuff, but these people should not get any cred for style. Not one of them actually looks good in what they're wearing. I sure hope this isn't all Melbourne has to offer.

Oddly enough, this is better than the one Nylon did for NYC. :P Much more interesting.

I love that cities like Melbourne are becoming more noticed in the fashion world aside from Sydney which everybody might automatically think of when thinking of Australia. These pics are cool..I really like the Asian girl with the blonde hair..but I don't like the guy in the pink spandex shorts! Its like all these street style sites are just capturing pics of people dressed like an odd mixture of the early early 90s rave/neon look! I'm already tired of it!

No matter what anyone else says or thinks, I think that this selection of street style from Melbourne is a lot more interesting than the ones from other parts of the world. I was suprised. Sure, it's not AMAZING, but all the other street style selections seem to be wearing clothes circa 2004, when it was fashionable. But that's just my oppinion. I really want to visit Melbourne now!

Us kids indeed know how to dress.! Australia is so overlooked though. I'm very glad Nylon has noticed Melbourne though.
Claps for Melbourne.

snaps for Nylon for showing such an amazing city, one which continues to show such individuality and style, and one that i am very pround to be a citizen of.
however, there are only a few standouts and i think that more places could have been visited in order to show the true potential Melbourne has.
otherwise, a great collection oof photographs (:

yes this is SO NOT what melbourne style is all about, it is the fashion capital of australia and u show this? i am sorry but the photographer should have taken more attention rather than do this in 10 minutes. the photos are ok but the ppl come on, melbourne deserves a better shoot of ppl. walk down brunswick street. or smith, or chapel, or high street, or even sydney, or the city and its alleyways come on.. this is not melbourne at all.

Definitely disappointing like others have stated before me. None of these pictures truly show the true eclecticism or the essence of the style of local individuals walking the streets of Melbourne, Nylon being what it is you'd think they'd really capture something different, unfortunately for the most part i don't think its been shown within these photos.

Melbourne has way more style than what has been represented here. I am really disapointed with the photographers selection. Melbourne is an amazing city full of out there fashion! :(
