I love the eccentricity of it all. There is definitely SO much energy in this clothing, however I would not be caught dead wearing an outfit like this by myself. The way they're dressed works because they're all doing it, but if I saw someone wearing something like this walking down the street, my first instinct would be to yell "FREAK" !

That is because you guys didn't walk down the streets of São Paulo... that's what I call "eccentric"

Rachel

01/28/2009

I guess this is cool ... if you like dressing like a figure skater from the 1995 Olympics.

Jeannie

01/28/2009

dahlings, you guys can't say anything because US americans cant dress for crap. Brazilians are crazy cool fun, and deff. dont give a shit. hate on them, but they are workin it.

people in Brazil do NOT wear like this all the time. Those "Fashionists" are just trying to look different on SPFW. Trust me, we're much more better looking than this!

not too shabby. i really enjoy homeboys green shoes and the black lacy get-up in the second to last row. overall sao paulo seems very unique and eccentric. dont ever stop being original. nylon should come to the philadelphia/south jersey area. peoples style gets pretty crazy, esp at local shows.

'people in Brazil do NOT wear like this all the time. Those "Fashionists" are just trying to look different on SPFW. Trust me, we're much more better looking than this!' I agree o/

Nayana

I think each style is each style....and YES..people in Brazil wear like THIS....and other ways...better, worst and different of those too. And we must respect every style and not have shame of wear WHATEVER we want to !!!! This is what fashion is about.

Darya

02/01/2009

I can see both points of view, yes, but I must say i like that almost every piece is totally danceable. You know these people are having fun.

Juliana

02/01/2009

Of course that isn't everyone who knows how to use clothes. I mean, these people really use these clothes, even out of SPFW..Brazil's got people who knows and who don't know how to dress, like in aaallll countries. Is just a sense of style.

zina

I'm a serious fashion professional so let's get the reality here. 1st thing the first clothes on the picture on the left is from a brazilian brand called Amapo, Mia is friends with the owners of this brand for years and get inspired by their work and wear their clothes even before creating her own brand, she comes pretty often to Brazil and if she was smart enough she would take amapo to do her collection because her own just look like a weak copy and it's ridicullous. 2nd reality guys, of course you can see much more people with great style in european countries wich has many many centuries of knowhow in fashion and great vintage shops, and the most important money! Brazil is a poor country with only 500 years of age, only 20% of the population can go to university. So the clothes are badly made the're are no education besides the facy that USA invade our country and economy with their vulgarity and bad taste, destroying our buildings and changing our natural beautifull culture. 3thrd but not less important reallity is that the Nylon people who were in Brazil had a very very bad fashion style they looked dressed by h&m and zara, no class! and they were hanging out with tacky looser people..its a shame nylon is a decent little magazine.

Liv

Specially to you Zina! I live in Brasil,I`m in college just like not 20%, but like 60% of brazilians and I got very disapointed to figure out that you who was born in a first world country knows nothing about us!And what is worse- think knows enough to say wrong things about my country! your coment is a shame to USA, showing us that you`re blind to other cultures and think this is ok! oh come on!

Gabi

02/02/2009

zina, are you REALLY a serious fashion professional? 1st- if you are, you dont need to say it for everybody. 2sd- Who gave u this opportunity? This person must be crazy, cus if you work on fashion fields you SHOULD UNDERSTAND ABOUT DIFFERENT CULTURES AND RESPECT ALL STYLES. "3thrd but not less important": read and do some researchs before say anything about any contry.Things are changing all the time and this information u have is SO LAST SEASON...

02/02/2009

to all the haters out there: my friends are in some of those photos, they are real people, not "fashionistas" with tons of money. Also, I saw the nylon writer at the adidas party during spfw, she was very cool, very nice, and definitely wasn't wearing zara. To everyone else out there: in Brazil, we enjoy fun graphics, bright colors, and individuality. Don't let a few stupid comments make you think otherwise...

Nayana

02/03/2009

Gabi ! I agreeeee !!! Please, people...For me a TACKY LOSER person is someone that don´t respect other people and shows arrogance. PLEASE READERS, I´m sorry for this kind of people that shows up representing our country... Kisses.

Mia

02/03/2009

Verrrry nice! ;D I did see some things I would NEVER wear, but that's the fun part. They can pull it off. Kudos. PS: Don't hate the poor people of the world who have to settle for H&M. Not everyone can afford "one-of-a-kind" pieces that are terribly over-priced for what they are really worth.

IM BRAZILIAN AND I HAVE TO SAY! THIS STRANGE FIGURES ONLY APPEAR IN FASHION WEEK EVENTS! WE HAVE THE WELL DRESSED PEOPLE, AND THE BAD DRESSED PEOPLE TOO, LIKE ANY OTHER COUNTRY, BUT WE ARE BETTER THAN THE HARAJUKU GIRLS! AHAHAH, IT ALL FASHION, LET US DRESS THE WAY WE WANT AND f*** OFF!

jaque

02/10/2009

I don't see the people in brazil wear like this photos. That are so freak! i feel me so sad for them.

Sandra Mara

02/11/2009

I´m brazilian girl. People do not wear it all the time. Only fashionist do it when they get opportunity to appear in magazines like this one. We have great style and great stylist & designs! Of course we use more colours than any other countries, we have a history that shows how Imperialism try to teach how we should be! Always always accusing us as exotic, freak, pour-but-happy etc. Brazil is not Carnaval all the time!

nina

02/14/2009

what is all this discussion about anyway? isn't fashion supposed to be all about having fun? the couple at the 23 always looking good!

Eli

02/17/2009

There were soooooo many more interesting people that could have been shown up there. Those in the pictures ( not all, ut most of them ) are big show offs that just dress up for this kinds of events, I mean, you hardly see people wearing stuff like that on the streets...As brazilian these people kind of embarass me, they are trying too hard to be fashionistas...

Fernanda

viviane

12/26/2009

can we just enjoy or non enjoy these people's style? nothing else matters. do you like this clothes? i liked!! and it makes no difference if they are a group or if all the country dresses like that. some do, some not. that's it.

Gabriela B.

12/30/2009

I'm brazilian and I live in the USA, and I've traveled to different places in America to figure out the obviouss: BAD TASTE IS EVERYWHERE. You do not see people dressed like that everyday on the streets of Brazil, hell no! They are people trying to stand out in the SPFW crowd. I think the world needs to see more reality and less Carnaval. Yeah.

Claire

01/09/2011

very prettehhh! TOTESANDGLITTER.TUMBLR.COM a blog that doesn't suck! (promise!) :)

Vivi

01/17/2011

Sorry, but I have to say something... People in Brazil have a great sense of style. Carlos Miele, Alexandre Herchcovitch are examples. Nylon mag took some photos of normal people in a fashionshow. If american magazines and blogs do the same thing the result could be iqual. Believe me, everybody can make their own style.. not just trends!! Wake up, south america has a great culture, everybody should explore this!!
