TREND REPORT: MID FINGER RINGS

TREND REPORT: MID FINGER RINGS

Tiny jewels invade our most-wanted list.

Fashion junkies already know that Kristen Stewart wore a Gaia Repossi ring to the recent MTV Movie Awards, but that still hasn't stopped stylists, editors, and shoppers from wondering what to call the peculiarly chic thing - or any ring that sits above one's knuckle, for that matter.

Repossi refers to her jewels, which have also appeared on countless off-duty models like Erin Wasson and Arizona Muse, as "phalanx" rings, a term that refers to the finger bone where the rings sit. Brazilian fashion bloggers who've recently gone crazy for the rings have named them falange, a direct Portuguese translation. As for us Americans, we've slanged the accessories as "mid finger rings," "midi rings," or "mid knuckle rings."

There aren't that many of them on the market yet, but like most things worn by beautifully mysterious girls on street style websites (and now by K-Stew), we imagine they're about to get very popular. Here are some options to help you get a jump on the trend.

Pretty sure the Vena Cava "rings" were actually nail polish... very cute trend though!

I was backstage and I remember thinking they were rubber rings, almost like the kind from the orthodontist... but I could be totally wrong. Will ask Lisa or Sophie for you!

Had the same debate with my roommate last night. (Ironically while studying our Italian vocab homework.) Leave it to Faran/Nylon to figure it out.

"Phalanx Ring" sounds kind of dirty though. Like its in a sex shoppe.

I am SO HAPPY to see these Etsy and Free People rings. I knew my only options couldn't be Repossi's thousand-dollar option or H&M's knockoff!!!!!!!

I wore these in college, about 10 years ago. I just bought "baby" ringsfrom a store called Penelope! Works just the same!
