WHAT ARE THE ODDS

Calvin Klein introduces The Katniss Dress.

Buffalo has a Gisele Jean; Mulberry has an Alexa bag (and one for Lana Del Rey). Now Katniss Everdeen gets a dress of her own, thanks to Calvin Klein.

To our knowledge, the American fashion brand isn't sold in Panem. But they memorably dressed the District Twelve tribute's alter-ego, Jennifer Lawrence, for the Oscars last year, as well as the New York premiere of The Hunger Games.

This Katniss dress is a little simpler than the character's movie couture - and there's definitely no flames - but we really like the sharply lined bodice and the cut-out cap sleeves that mimic Katniss' Hunger Games uniform.

The dress debuts today at Net-a-Porter, and costs $5000 - which maybe Effie Trinket can afford, if she gets a bonus for reaping the winning pair...

I actually really love this dress, and I think it represents Katniss well. Now, only in my opinion as someone who is a fan of the books and movie, I think the plainness of it just...really suits not only the character but the story. I don't think it was trying to mimic one certain dress she wore in the film, such as her reaping dress or the fire dress, but the tale as a whole. The shoulders also add a rough touch to the whole thing, a bit of a tough edge. Would love to see JLaw rocking this.

Seriously, I wonder if these people know the story their trying to cash out on. This is a world so poor people can't afford to feed themselves, and yet we can buy a 5,000$ dress in homage to this pretend world. Money makes the world go around. Capitalism wins again. :/

If the irony doesn't make you laugh, it'll make you cry.
